Recreation of the pixel font from Nintendo's cartridge re-release of "Zelda no Densetsu: The Hyrule Fantasy" (1986), renamed/numbered as "Zelda no Densetsu 1: The Hyrule Fantasy" (1994), on the Famicom.

The re-release uses that same alphanumeric characters of the North America/Europe release of "The Legend of Zelda" (1987), but otherwise all characters remain the same. Note that the dakuten is used in the initial story screen as a double-quote character (which oddly is also the case in the North America/Europe version, even though these have a separate double-quote character).

This font includes a full set of katakana characters. In the game's tileset, the dakuten and handakuten are separate tiles, positioned in the line above the character they relate to. In this recreation, these characters are pre-combined into a single glyph.

Only the characters present in the game's tile set have been included.

This recreation includes the special/accented characters from the french and german releases of the game. In game, the characters with a diaeresis use an additional tile above them - in this recreation, the characters have been combined properly (and as a result, the height of the font overall is greater than 8px).

As an aside, this font was also used for the fan translation of "For frog the bell tolls" (aka "カエルの為に鐘は鳴る" / "Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naru", 1992/2011).

The "Ancient Sheikah" language from the Legend of ZELDA: Breath of the Wild on Nintendo Wii U/Nintendo Switch. Both capitals and lowercase are the same. Contains A-Z, 0-9, space, and full stop.

(The "Period" and "Question Mark" characters are never used in game and only appear in the game files. The "Vertical Line" character only appear in the "gyro" controls in "apparatus" shrines and is not otherwise listed in the file that list all other characters. It is not known if those characters should be considered cut/scrapped and if they are canon or not.)

Updated March 5, 2017: The Hyrule Compendium in game shows that that was believed to be digits 1-5 (pins) is actually digits 0-4. Also, it shows that pins are actually in inverted colors.

Updated April 4, 2017: Added a dummy character so that a line spacing of 1.0 will not juxtapose glyphs vertically (a minimal white space will be kept).

Updated April 11, 2017: A datamining of the game reaveals that what was believed to be the "Space" and "Period" characters are actually the "Hyphen" and "Exclamation Mark".
