This is my first FontStruction while currently studying graphic design at Bristol UWE. Lots of experimentation solely using paints; quick hand movements and flicks to produce a messy, unrefined effect. Working in less than 1 second for each letter (with real paints), used as reference. Inspired by East Asian calligraphy.

When the new arc bricks were unleashed upon fontstructland, I attempted several different styles incorporating this new maximum curve. My first drafts revealed the direction I was heading. I wanted to create a flawless geometric, technical sans lowercase with a touch of calligraphic flair (there are some optical correction issues in the result, e.g. with the e). For the uppercase, I intended maximum style without sacrificing too much coherence – why lose any of the best bits?

Brush script, art deco, classic engraving, three genera of gothic (sans serif, blackletter, and ancient alphabet!), runic, hieroglyphic, and yet still some futuristic tendencies all informed me. But do they blend?

The handwritten quality of a broad-nibbed pen or skillfully wielded marker provides the binding agent. An emulsion of all these influences, it is at once all and none. Even the strict modularity begins to melt into the background. Yet so distinctly fontstruct...This is a clone

A TRUE HAND WRITTEN font.
No two letters are the same, or use any of the same brick configurations.
From my very own hand using an Edding 5.0 Calligraphy pen.
Only the upper case is available for now. Due to a heavy work load this week, and several non-starter comp entries, I've unfortunately been unable to fully complete the lowercase and numerals. :-(

This is created to look funny, hand made. It took a lot of time to create. I had very ambitious plans for the Handcomp. but I got into some important work and this is my only entry for handcomp. This technique certainly has the potential for more than this, but right now I don't have the time for experimenting a lot. But how about using it for a handwriting-on-rough-paper font?

A fantasy brush script-ish font, originally drawn by hand for a homebrew D&D setting of mine (not an easy first font project, and I did it in one day...I have the crazy, apparently). It's a loosely phoenetic alphabet, with no capital letters to speak of. Instead, the vowels with diacritical marks and the consonant clusters have been mapped to the capital and lowercase letters. Capital vowels are long vowels, and lowercase are short vowels. (Lowercase u pulls double duty as schwa and all those other hard to sort out sounds.) Consonant clusters are mapped to the capital letters they roughly correspond to; C is ch, D is dr/rd (some of these can be used backwards or forwards), G is gr/rg, H is sh, M is nd/dn, N is ng, S is st/ts, and T is th. As far as punctuation, spaces are sort of comma-ish, but I wanted to use some sort of marker for it to make it look a little more foreign at first glance. The rest of the punctuation isn't too different from what you might expect, although the heart and curly tilde are just in-jokes. ^_^;
