This ornamental typeface was based around the word 'DECORATIVE.' I have tried to make this style of type and lettering artistic and eye-catching. It was first inspired by the movement and aesthetic look of ribbon and scrolls. With further research I started to look at old fashioned fairytale typography and classic art nouveau artwork and posters. The typeface itself is very pattern based and every letter has a different element to them which has been inspired by something different.

My typefaces are inspired by Frederic Goudy and Vic lee and Ginger Monkey(Tom Lane) .Their typeface design are similar to my theme and also they are detailed artists. They bring me some ideas to develop my ideas. I wanted to use these character is for the newspaper, magazine of even though some poster, for the first character , such as the Frederic Goudy's work.

This font was created with the intent to simulate some liquid ink on a paper, and writing it down with a brush.

My first attempt at Fontstruct for my project at The University of the West of England.
This font is based on the theme word that I chose, Ornate. I decided to look at weeds and went with the idea that they grow where they are not wanted. I chose to use a normal base letter in the background of the font and place weeds on top; where they are not wanted.
The name, 'Hidden Beauty' spurs from the fact that we automatically hate weeds however if you really look at them you would see that they can actually be quite beautiful. This is a clone

As part of my "Found Type" project at UWE, we had to design a font for a theme that we chose. I chose Ornate. I was particularly drawn to this theme due to its relations with Biblical manuscripts and the architecture within Churches. I ended up combining the manuscript like lettering with features of Churches. I realised that this combination creates a great contrast between thick and thin, straight and curves. I found it difficult to create curves on font struct, but I rose to the challenge and created this. I hope you enjoy!

Mainly a CAPS font, but there are lowercase letters in case you need them. First font I've created; enjoy(:
