July 31, 2021 update: Font at version 2.0. Diagonals and lowercase crossbars were thickened, and diagonals now cross into the vertical strokes. Now more movie accurate than ever!
So the idea behind this one is that as you type you're creating a city scene. The spaces are empty intersections. The slash marks are slightly askew telephone poles. The quotation marks are flocks of birds. Etc. From a distance it can be a bit illegible. It's primarily meant for large letters or close up scrutiny.
A typeface inspired by American typefaces from the 1800s and the Art Deco-styled coffee shop I visit often in Des Moines, Iowa.
Combining a slab-serif, expanded typeface with ornate detailing brought challenging consideration to the legibility of the font. It’s used best for short, bold messages or an energetic initial cap.
