An experiment with propellers. It seems to me like something four would make. Suggestions are welcome. Thanks.
02/08/17: Thanks to the new Kerning feature, a separate "r" is no longer required. Also made the rings a little rounder and fixed the rings on U and u.
Create your own license plate! Surround your text with () or []. Use '_' to get a truly blank space; use '|' for an uppercase middle dot, '\' for lowercase. Some alternates are available in Latin Extended A. Suggestions and critiques welcome. Thanks and enjoy!
(2017: I think this idea was sort of a spin-off of fs quotable. I was also experimenting with clean sans like this one at the time, which contributed greatly toward the design of the inner font. The () characters are new and a few letters (regular g, alternate g and Q) have been updated, but other than that everything's pretty much the same as 3 years ago.)
Inspired by a font I saw in a children's book. The artist had drawn a map of the world on canvas and used a tiny serif font to label important points on the map. The letters had such a cute hand-made feel to them that I just had to recreate it in FS.
Uppercase letters are 6 grid squares (3 bricks) tall; lowercase are 4.5 (2.25 bricks). IIRC nudging had recently been introduced; this definitely would have been impossible without it.
Here's what happens after I temporarily lose the ability to Fontstruct... ;) This started as an experiment to get around overshoots, but took of in a slightly different direction, with a touch of Uptake. Suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!
(2017: Isn't it wonderful when you don't touch a fontstruction for 3 years and still don't see anything to improve? I don't remember why I lost the ability to use FontStruct—probably because of either a power outage or being in a moving vehicle—but I would guess I sketched this out in my graph notebook before getting back on the site.)
A funky idea that started with the A and expanded from there. Most letters are drawn by a single line winding around, although some are just not willing to follow this mantra. I found this half-finished while scrolling through my private FontStructions, looking for ideas for the CounterComp, and decided it was already an interesting entry :-)
There's an alternate, narrow set of numbers that can be reached with Shift+number (on a QWERTY, Dvorak, etc. layout); not sure which set fits the style better. Suggestions and critiques welcome for anything, and feel free to clone and poke around with it. Thanks and enjoy!
My first entry for Serifcomp. Originally created in 2013, when I still had little knowledge about the finer details of type design. I've made major changes to the original design while trying not to lose its original feel (avoiding diagonal strokes, for example). I ended up making major changes to M, Q, T, W, f, k, m, q, r, t, and w, and minor changes to a bunch more; a ton of kerning was also required. It's not very polished yet, but it's a start...
Some alternates are available in Latin Extended A. As always, suggestions and critiques are welcome. Thanks and enjoy!
The long-awaited uneaten variant of fs cookie, fresh out of the oven. Many characters could likely be improved, especially with modern FS features such as nudging, but I'd rather not change anything from the original (for this version, anyway). Feel free to clone and edit as you please.
This is a clone of fs cookie cleanMore of an experiment than an attempt at an amazing typeface, but I thought it'd be a fun entry nonetheless. Don't let the creation date fool you: I started this design in early 2014. There were many issues that had to be remedied before publishing, most notably the lack of characters and major discrepancies between the shapes of serifs (some were entirely triangular, others entirely curved). It's still heavily a work in progress. Suggestions are encouraged, especially for the Q and punctuation. Thanks and enjoy!
