It's been a while since I released a movie themed font. This was a good excuse to experiment with 1:16 angles to recreate the original Predator movie logo. Predatoric was tricky to create as well as manage in regards to the fades on curves and angles. Small Caps were created afterward. Predatoric 2 came about by accident and looked even more interesting.
Digits from the Predator self=destruct sequence are housed in the [, ], {, and }. This is a clone of Predatoric

A summer fun (and the result of a small bet). My oldest son (16 yo) had to reserve some seats for us and he came to take a scissors, cardboard, fold it and do what you see in the first sample, all in less than two minutes. I liked so much that. I promised him to do something similar (maybe) in FS.

This is a quick tutorial to demonstrate how to create the new angles allowed by FS 2.0.
A = 1:3
B = 1:4
C = 1:6
D = 1:8
E = 2:3
To create the angles, you have to use the new composite feature. Each letter shows the bricks at the top needed to create the angle piece beneath it. Except for the 2:3, the two middle columns make the angle pieces necessary for the middle part of the 2:3.
I will post some screenshots and better explanations tomorrow.
I added single dots to the other caps to make sure this font showed up for everyone...I couldn't remember what the minimum number of characters is.

Each letter and number is composed of dits and dahs according to how you write them in morse code. the additional symbols were hard to get into the shape but I tried.

An unspectacular 3x3 pixel font. Made on an iPod Touch!!! The "Cloud Browse" app, available from the US iTunes, allows you to use Flash websites on iPod Touches and iPhones. The free account (nothing else available yet) cuts you off every few minutes which is very annoying, so you have to work fast and save very often. Keyboard shortcuts don't work as far as I could see and I couldn't work out how to do drag and drop, but basic FontStructing is possible and surprisingly easy.

A quick experiment playing with the possibilities of overshoot, using the composite brick function.

Hardcore modular FS in 25 minutes. It's late, so i'll fill the description box tomorrow. I will make component of any glyph to make the flash preview more readable. I believe that even 1x1 font made out of 2x2 componets is still 2x2, so converting don't make any further differences.
Damn. Almost stencil. Almost because of "0" and "&"... Is this any achievement? To make font more universal? 2x2 and monospacing - isn't it enough :D?
NE - there's a challenge for you! Doesn't these characters look so great to be used in an artwork?

There are far too many 3x3 pixel fonts that aren't actually true 3x3, or are not readable at 1px per block. So here is a proper 3x3 pixel font created for the Merveilles Portable MMO made by ika.

This is my attempt to create a robust, almost military grade slab serif stencil. The whole project was largely inspired by the music clip bearing the same title by Nathalie Cardone (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqYHeX0i0NU&feature=related). It is a work in progress, glyphs may change in the final version.

a V1.0 fontstruct - Minimalist 4 patterns font.
I create this font with my head rotated. It's a classic clean font. It's fun to play with size for different screen result, always readable, very small readable in pale grey, mid size get a cool fuzzy , big size clean and clear.
We can also overlay text to create shade and overlaping effect.

Atari-Like font fading into nothingness. It's pretty small.
Also the fade looks weird when writing with it. Yes, that's how it's supposed to look like.

This technique certainly has the potential for more than this, but right now I don't have the time for experimenting a lot. But how about using it for a handwriting-on-rough-paper font?
And yep, I'll do a more complete character set soon...

An attempt at getting that 'carved in stone' look. A shaded version will probably follow.

Now that it is done, I realize I plagiarized the font of the Gossip posters. Shame on me.

I tried to design this font as if it was made of folded paper stripes. It looks better in small size on screen. Alternative i for ligatures = I.
