This is a font inspired by the word 'systematic'. My main influence when creating this font was archiecture and the form of buildings. I focused strongly on lines and the grid system as I felt this really fit the theme of 'systematic' and archiecture as both remind me of acting according to a fixed plan or system; methodical.

For this project I was given the word "systematic" as inspiration. I looked into the imagery within the chinese military, looking at how the ordering and the syncronisity created an almost optical illusion effect. Because of this the military force looks more powerful than it may actually be, which is something I was intrested in capturing in my font. The typeface is rigid, geometric, and sans-serif.

After choosing the adjective 'systematic' to create a typeface, I designed this based on the typography seen on communist propaganda, in particular around the period of the Russian Revolution, Leninism and later Stalinism.

Taking inspiration from contructivist art and architecture, I created block-like letterforms with these slanted corners.

I wanted to create a cold and harsh feeling typeface that was based around the Cyrillic alphabet, translating shapes from one alphabet to then be used for English; thus why I chose a sans-serif bold font in all capitals.

This font is based on mazes and labyrinths that focuses on intricate patterns, shapes, and designs. I looked at mazes found in theme parks and gardens while taking inspiration from films such as 'Maze Runner' and 'Labyrinth' to influence my work.

This font was created using a systm that randomly generated angles to score through the letters. This creates the effect that the letters have been randomly shattered, yet each cut is planned out one by one. 

Based on the theme of 'Systematic'. My research led me into compulsions which in turn became developing my own system where I surrendered control and randomly generated a variant of a Triangle, an angle to rotate it to and then a cell it would go into. This would then be removed to create the final letterform. Designed to be a display typeface.

'STANDARD' - This font was influenced by systematic shapes and objects.

I looked at stencils and stamps and the forms they create and incorporated this idea by constructing gaps in each character to create an overall stencil style.

Each character is the same width and height and almost bound by how much space they fill. I found similar patterns and rules in systematic objects which is why I tried to incorporate that into my font.

My font theme is systematic, I aimed to make a font that was precise and but also referenced technology in the patterns of a motherboard and the pixelated style. The dots also help form the illusion of curves.

Desk bound is inspired by the shape of paperclips. The theme for this idea is ‘systematic’, my initial interpretation of this was something heavy and solid, to represent machinery/construction, based on industrial systems. The idea behind the paperclips comes from the notion that every ‘system’, in a broader sense of the word, requires careful planning and organisation. The physical form of the letters is intended to appear both soft and geometric, making use of the rounded rectangular shape of the paperclips to communicate this and remain consistent, reflecting back on the original ‘systematic’ theme whilst looking lighthearted and playful.

I created this typeface based on the theme 'Systematic'. I wanted it to have a simplistic and robotic style with inspiration from a calculator's font. I produced each letter to fit into the same rectangular box shape so that they are all accurate and precise. I titled my font 'Meticulous' as it is careful, orderly and has attention to detail.

Inspired by military and the need for all participant parts to be regiment. My typeface incorporates the distinct 'V' shape of a collar, responding to the idea of uniform.

'Uniform'

1. Adjective: Remaining the same in all cases and at all times.

2. Noun: The distinctive clothing worn by members of the same organisation or body of people. 

I initially responded to the level of regularity in military demonstrations, particularly from nations such as North Korea or Russia. Each character in my typeface is formed from the same starting shape to reflect this level of standardisation.

This typeface is based around the word SYSTEMATIC. Systematic is something that is acted upon according to a set plan. The main inspiration for this typeface has come from Harry Beck’s London Underground Map. First published in 1933, Beck's map has now been used to show many different transport routes for different cities across the globe. The typeface itself is very angular and includes very little curves throughout. Although the letterforms aren’t reflective of any geographical locations, each letter reflects both the stations and the railway lines from Beck’s map.

This typeface follows the theme Systematic. I was greatly influenced by clocks, including pocket watches and clock hands including there internal and exterior aesthetics. As my research and planning developed, my final outcome evolved from illustrative and ornate sketches to a more refined and simple final outcome. I would appreciate feedback :-)
