So this is what you get when boredom and I go on a little date (I don't mean that too literally, I'm still quite young for that). I plopped down on the couch with my Periodic Table of Minecraft shirt and began placing some random pixels. Eventually, I got a pattern going. The last character (secretly the §) shows what I call the core matrix. Before you say anything about my obsession over matrixes and that I've been dating the wrong thing (again, not literal, just humor) let me stop you there. I kinda just have a thing for giving everything cool names. Any comments or suggestions on two things that are the same (and are supposed to be the same) and things to improve are accepted <3

I looked into the definition of introverted as a word, which simply breaks down as ‘to turn into one’s self’ so leading off of this I went about recording and observing objects that I felt had this characteristic in common. The most successful and clearest representation of this I felt was blinds, as they turn into themselves and also act as deliberate screen mechanism. This then became the foundation of my type design, mimicking the lines of the blinds within my typeface. I also wanted to play with the idea of reducing the letterform as much as possible without losing legibility, as I felt that this helped to further portray introverts because it is as if the letters are becoming hidden with the background. This is a clone

I created this font based on the theme 'introverted'. I decided to use a bold and large typeface as a base to represent the ideas and words that form in introverts, but often go unseen or unheard. Running through this is a box, which always links into the next character unless there is a space, which contains a much smaller more simple version of the letter. This is what introverts do let out to the surface and is often not a full representation of the ideas behind it. I would compare it to the idea of an iceberg where the smaller letter is the ten percent that we do see and the larger letter behind is what we don't see.

My first attempt at Fontstruct for my project at The University of the West of England. This font is based on the theme word that I chose, Ornate. I decided to look at weeds and went with the idea that they grow where they are not wanted. I chose to use a normal base letter in the background of the font and place weeds on top; where they are not wanted. The name, 'Hidden Beauty' spurs from the fact that we automatically hate weeds however if you really look at them you would see that they can actually be quite beautiful.This is a clone

Recently I saw a photo of a tiger hiding in grass. It had a tree branch above its head and I suddenly saw the letter "T" ... It inspired me to make a basic hidden alphabet, and as things are often hidden in boxes I decided to hide my letters in boxes in such a way that they were visibly hidden like the tiger in the grass.

Living in the shadows. Many children during the second world war were forced to hide for their lives, in dark confined spaces and remain extremely quiet, sometimes for months. My fontstruct typography 'scattered light' was created as part of a design brief given by UWE bristol, the theme followed the word shadow, and thought out the development of the font i looked at the light and shadows created as well as the rays or holes of light that would make it through small gaps. This was sometimes all the light they would see. I've tried to replicate this and take further inspiration from the decayed walls photographed after the war. The font is white on a black background, to symbolize the shadows/darkness they lived in. The font resembles scattered light and decayed surfaces from that period in time.
