I produced this for my "communicating with words" first year module on the BA(Hons) Graphic Design course at UWE Bristol, England. It pays homage to Ralph Steadman and is a true testament to what you can do on fontstruct, if you’re willing to spend a week in front of a computer in your underpants.

That's my handwriting. Scanned a piece of paper with a handwritten alphabet and redraw it as exactly as possible. I know it's sloppy but that's the effect I wanted and my handwriting is in fact very sloppy.

I began by exploring the theme of decaying objects, such as fruit, and studied the shape (and change of shape) of the objects, as they progressively fell apart. By creating hand drawn sketches i began to create a typeface that looked as though it was rotting/melting away. I used a traditional typeface, Times New Roman, that could be considered as quite boring and a font which has been around for a long time and then used it as a base font which i then made to look as though it was rotting and falling apart by refering back to my earlier sketches. Overall I aimed to create a typeface that represents the decay of an older, more traditional and perhaps overused typeface.

Redesigning the pixel font. Built on a 50x30 grid, this masterpiece is a pixel font that is decomposing. Enjoy! Each "pixel" is 10 by 10 grid squares. The idea was from "Metropolis" by ackfla.

I started this Fontstruction with a blank canvas and blank mind, and decided to draw my phone (guess which one that is!) to just warm up. Before I knew it, the idea for the whole design was staring me right in the face. Hopping around the internet, looking for images and information on which phones to draw was great fun. Who knew that the first ‘personal communicator’ was the IBM South Bell Simon, which combined the features of a mobile phone, a pager, a PDA, and a fax machine. Yes, you read that right! The Simon was also nine inches tall.

My first font. I started it for the stencil competition, for fun, however it was extremely fascinating creating it :)
Hope you like it!

Inspired by, but ended up nowhere near like, the title card font for Ballykissangel. Capitals have ascenders/descenders, lower case is the same set of capitals but without those (since they don't look great in certain alignments), mix and match for the best visual effect.

A tridimensional font on a 4x6 grid. The rendering on a pixel preview size is really neat, you can see only the shadows but the font is still legible. Uppercase, lowercase, numbers and basic punctation.

A reconstruction of some of the original GUI elements found on FontStruct, as a FontStruction on FS! :)
The design elements are (c) FontStruct/Rob Meek/FSI FontShop International (excluding MS-style cursors). This is meant as JUST a fanart and is not meant to infringe on the authors' rights.
---
This font is meant to be viewed and used at PXL sizes (12 px and multiples).
---
This pictographic font is a WIP (work in progress). Any suggestions are welcome!
---
Changelog:
*20 September 2010 — Added new glyphs (FS GUI elements/artifacts + some cursors & GUI widgets, like radio buttons). Notable additions include the FS web browser favicon (in 2 versions!) and the social networking icons found under the "Tell the world" dropdown option.
Also changed the picture-to-letter mapping, this requires further improvements, though.
*27 September 2010 — 11 new GUI image elements/artifacts were added after suggestions by other FontStructors:
1. The clone icon (Dolly the clone sheep)
2-4. "Add fave", "My fave" and broken-hearted "Drop fave" versions of the heart icon that can be used to keep track of your favorite FontStructions
5-6. Two (2) versions of the current FontShop favicon (faux anti-aliased and B&W contrasted)
7. A rectangular FontStruct mini-banner that appears when embedding a FontStruction into an external website
8. "FontStruct is brought to you by" text from the same embeddings
9. Small negative/inverted upwards arrow (I always seemed to forgot to add that one up until now)
10. The e-mail icon from FontStructor userpages, and
11. The pixel rating ‘voted’ tick mark.
*[next version]
P.S. Any suggestions, comments and ideas are again appreciated, welcome & even encouraged! :D

A solid technical face to replace Helvetica and other common sans serifs.
