My font was inspired by the way pixels have been used by other designers in the late 20th century, in particular, Peter Saville’s Original die-cut sleeve album cover for New Order’s Blue Monday single, Wim Crowel’s new alphabet used by Brett Wickens in Joy Division’s compilation album Substance cover. The font was modeled on digitalized letters. To produce it I have used techniques from traditional calligraphy (drawing, use of pencil and ink on paper) to create an effect usually generate instantaneously by computer coding in order to stress the tension between the finished piece and the production behind it. The tension between the two and the uncertainty are represented in the font by the missing and misplaced pixels in each letter.
This is a cloneThis font is inspired by the people that rebel, protest and defy our political stances. Taken from the word ‘unstable’ this font aims to convey a sense of political instability. Using the imagery and typefaces created from protest banners I created ‘f*ck boris’ whilst encompassing iconic rebellion symbols used throughout our history.
‘Unstable’ was the word I used as a starting point in order to create this font. I was inspired by smoke from my incense sticks as it created such interesting patterns as it burnt away. I wanted to show the movement of smoke in each letter and make it appear delicate and elusive, like it could disappear at any minute.
This font explores the theme of anger. I took inspiration from heavy metal/rock album covers and tried to recreate the same irregular/jarring lettering they do. To do this I painted letters quickly on varying sizes of paper and translated this onto fontstruct to get a rough/rushed look.
This font was created around the theme of unstable. It was developed from shapes and structures of scaffolding. I began looking at how each part of scaffolding is pivotal in creating a solid structure and if a part was to be removed it would become unstable and collapse. Each letter form is molded from different parts of a scaffolding frame, such as c-clips etc. The outcome was very engineered/mechanical and is probably best used as a display font for businesses.
This font was created around the theme word 'unstable'. One definition of unstable is 'prone to psychiatric problems or sudden changes of mood', for which many people have to take medication. I created this font out of pills (medication) to symbolise the theme. It is intended to be used to raise awareness of the fact that 1 in 4 people in the UK will experience a mental health problem each year.
Starting with the word Unstable I have created this set of three fonts to show the breakdown of letterforms. Starting with Awe Fixed the letterforms are perfectly legible and stand quite tall and bold. Awe Shatter shows breaks within the letterforms as if shattered, while still legible the font still gives a very unstable feel. Awe Broken is the final font of the set which shows the letters in pieces.
A display typeface based upon some physical type I made from dark food colouring etched into sugar syrup - this is the second part in which the food dye has bled into the sugar syrup much more. This was to represent the brief theme I picked of 'unstable', hence why all the characters are completely induvidual in size and shape. I have also published a first version of this type before the dye bled into the syrup.

I have also published a second version which displays what happens when the food colouring bled into the sugar syrup.
This is a font that I designed in relation to the word ‘unstable’. My font is inspired by the classic block game Jenga where players take in terns to pull a block hopefully not knocking over the tower. With this font, I am trying to communicate that although something might look stable, one subtle movement could cause it to come tumbling down.
Priceless is a font primarily based on the changes that technology has on the way that society spends money. Noticibaly, the 21st century the world around us has accelerated and revolutionised the methods that we use to pay. It has become incredibly easy to spend money with the click of a button. This has resulted in the use of cash slowly diminish and it is believed that one day in the future, cash will be completely removed from the way people give and recieve capital.

For our font project I chose the theme unstable as this word interested me the most. From taking images of cracked surfaces around Bristol I decided that I would focus on this as my theme looking at unstable surfaces as found this an interesting topic to focus on. From my photography I created drawings of cracked paint work and then from these I used the crack drawings to create the shapes of my font creating the letters themselves. I feel my font is very unique and original.
This typeface is inspired by the novel Herzog - in which a man with an unstable mind, who writes letters to ghosts, writes in the most delicate and held together handwriting. I want to show the idea of an unstable mind through this font, seemingly controlled and held together, but inside, something isn't stable.
This is a cloneThis font was originally inrpired by the word "Unstable". From that word i began to look at multiple unstaible chratcters. I chose to then focus on the new Joker film and the new character joaquin Phoenix had created. The font used for the Joker advertisment, was really impressive however, I fehlt as though it didnt really portray his character well. This font was a way for me to better illustrate The Joker's new character. First I created a very comic block letter that would containe a scratchy "unstable" letter.
