Codex Terribilis draws inspiration from handwritten manuscripts and codices with some complementary symbols (alchemical, zodiac signs, etc).
Uppercase and lowercase letters interact in playful and sometimes unexpected ways. For that I had to omit bits of the uppercase D, H, M, and Z. These can be added back by typing, respectively: ); |; |; and \.
I've done a lot of kerning already but it feels endless so I've given up ever finishing.
pour Bérénice, joyeux anniversaire :)
This san serif font is inspired by the concept of ‘Community’. I explored the idea of unhealthy, anti-communities and real life examples of them, which lead me to Hollywood. Hollywood, beneath all the glamour, proves to often be a toxic community, considering the examples of misogyny, racism and sexual abuse that has taken place within the community. I wanted to recreate the iconic Hollywood sign and modify it to have cracks appearing, representing the real-life cracks appearing in Hollywood’s community. These cracks will represent examples such as Harvey Weinstein and the #MeToo movement.
I was playing fruit ninja with my nephew, and while cutting the fruit and beating my neohew in the game, I was thinking about how the slashing, so I just thought that could work, then I was watching Predator and that part where arnold (spoiler alert) beats the predator and the predator pulls out his bomb and it started counting down; the numbers also helped me come up with this idea
Working with the theme 'destructive', I have investigated how eating unhealthy food can cause plaque build up and lead to tooth decay. The detail and shading on the letters represent the erosion of a tooth when it starts to decay. The font would be used for more decrative purposes but could also be used in add campaigns that warn the genral public of tooth decay. Due to the font being eroded its self it would reflect the information in the add and could even go as far as sublininally sending a message to the veiwer a warning that their teeth could end up looing like this font.
