Pixeneric is a generic pixel font for all your needs. It is a work in progress, but I'm going to try to fill in all the Unicode slots.
This is an expansion of the GUI/Menu font used in the 16-bit Earthbound games (Earthbound; Mother 3). This is usually referred to as the Apple Kid font, according to EarthBound Central.
The expansion is based off of Noto Sans by Google, as the font contains a majority of the Unicode glyphs, some of which are shown as □ in the FontStructor and many other fonts; that means that there are glyphs hiding in those □'s!
4/30/2024: EMOJI IS NOW IN BETA! I am now a FontStruct Patron, so I can add color to my font. While the main font is monochrome, I will be adding some EarthBound-themed emojis (limited to 8 colors)! Stay tuned!
6/16/2024: Emoji is now on hiatus until the newer more-supported color font system rolls out to all Patrons. SVG Fonts don't work on Windows 10 unfortunately and don't have much support outside of Adobe, Sketch and some browsers.
11/24/2025: Custom characters will be made, as a sort of a playground of gimmicks, and jokes, and even some fun ones to try out! Here are some characters I've done so far (more to come!):
- Uppestcase letters
- Lowercase numbers
These custom characters will be added in the Private Use character sets.
12/1/2025: Some characters are redrawn to match their respective characters in a romhack of EarthBound called Mother 2 DX, which had added these characters in the character set.
1:1 pixel size is 11 or 12 size font.
The majority of all Unicode glyphs will be added soon.
Here are some things I may need help with:
1. Arabic. Normally, characters are joined like connected lines, and this font does not do that. If someone can give advice on replicating that, let me know!
Currently a work in progress. Expect some changes here and there occasionally.
