A font initially designed on isometric paper in response to my 'words' brief at UWE. 'Ornate' was the word selected from a list as a starting point. My interest in isometric designs was triggered by Jakob Runge's Fracmetrica typeface. And I know my typeface isn't truly isometric; it's damn hard to create isometric angles on Fontstruct, especially as this is my first font on here. Any constructive criticism, suggestions or advice will be greatly received. (I've no idea why Fontstruct has displayed my characters in such a strange order)

Welcome to Fontstruct. AN excellent first font. You have already grasped the method of working with bricks and made an intricate decorative yet highly useable font. 10/10 and fav :)
Comment by Aeolien 27th october 2013
Sorry, second post to say 'could we have some European accented letters please'. You find them in the "more Latin" set. In the 'menu'>'commands' you'll see the possibility to copy your basic Latin set to 'more Latin. There are also a variety of other language sets incl more special European sets. 'More Latin' covers most EU languages.

Great font! 10/10+fav. UWE students are amazing!
Critique:
The top of the 't' and the crossbar could be higher. :)

dethlatron, you're welcome to use this font for whatever you like :-)
Comment by Tom CB 27th october 2013
Aeolien: I'll be working on adding even more characters today so hopefully I'll get down to some european and more special characters. Some of the current ones still aren't finished like the lower case k so I'll tackle those first but there should be new characters up every day or two.

j4sl3: Thank you! I'm glad you like it. Yes the 't' could be higher, I'll change that now. Thanks!
Comment by Tom CB 27th october 2013
Great improvement! If you could quickly change the f to match, I'll have a sample.
Comment by Evie Atarax (j4s13) 27th october 2013
Love those twists - excellent. 10/10
Comment by p2pnut 27th october 2013
The 'f' looks weird if I make the cross bar the same height as the 't'.
Comment by Tom CB 27th october 2013
Just saw that.
Comment by Evie Atarax (j4s13) 27th october 2013
Nice job. The diacritics on your Lc i's are above the dot, instead of replacing it—just pointing that out. :)
Comment by sarreyn 27th october 2013
The 'f' could be fixed by raising the bar to 't' height by only having the top half of the loop, i.e., you could try it with only the left side.
Comment by sarreyn 27th october 2013
Oh I didn't realize they were supposed to replace them. I'll change that now.
Comment by Tom CB 27th october 2013
Very nice. Have thought about other approaches for the z?
Comment by Rob Meek (meek) 27th october 2013
Yeah both the capital and lower case z don't really work, they look like 2s. I'll try changing them now..

Nice work, Tom, I am in the process of looking through every font in the entire collection of fontsruct (yes I know theres approx. 2.8k of them), but of the many I've seen thus far, yours is one of the better ones I've seen.
Comment by OsyenVyeter 28th october 2013
Excellent work. k could do with an ascender and a bit more space on the left.
Comment by four 28th october 2013
The ascender looks much better like this. k's arm should probably stay under the x-height though.
Comment by four 28th october 2013
Would the Z work with the diagonal a bit lower (it would replace its top ribbon path) giving more height towards the horizontal at the top for the ribbon?
Comment by Aeolien 28th october 2013
I tried this and it begins to look like a 2 again. I'm not sure what to do about the Z but it really does let the rest of the font down. I tried the old style Z that kinda looks like a 3 but it's too ambiguous. Also need some suggestions for the ampersand if you can tell which one it is! (2 along from the dollar symbol)
Comment by Tom CB 28th october 2013
please push a sample pic of this font
great work
Comment by Michel Troy ~UrbanPixel~ (Upixel) 29th october 2013
Maybe u could add another ribbon on the top part of the z like the bottom
Comment by dethlatron 29th october 2013
I think the Z is ok as it is - but the twists would look better if they were at the same height as on the other Uppercase glyphs.

The ampersand is the & symbol (I often Google 'ampersand for a variety of inspirations for this glyph).
Comment by p2pnut 29th october 2013
This is seriously awesome!
Comment by livvy_is_cool 30th october 2013
Very nice! T looks a bit tall (since it has a wide top), maybe lower it one or two bricks?
Comment by V. Sarela (Yautja) 5th november 2013
Thanks, it looks much better a brick lower. I applied the same idea to the 'Z' and '5' too.
Comment by Tom CB 12th november 2013
You found the perfect solution to the "Z and 2 problem". No confusion possible now.
Comment by Aeolien 12th november 2013
Oh no! your font has seemed to have changed. Its all shrunken now...
Comment by OsyenVyeter 28th november 2013
Yeah it's because I'm using Fontstruct to create an A5 border for my type specimen I'm making at Uni and it's messed up the size of all the letters but once it's done they'll be fine again.
Comment by Tom CB 28th november 2013
Wow! What a great job you've done!
Comment by SquarePeg 28th november 2013
