Celtic knotwork in an insular style. Based on lettering from the Book of Kells. Some alternates in the lower case, some ligatures in the "More Latin" set, and a "construction kit" on ~ so you can create your own knotty fonts :-) UPDATE June 3 2010: Removed some artefacts from the 'E' and 'e'. Please re-download.

That is some crafty and impressive brick work.

A new shining example for the Celtic theme. The knots are wonderfully crafted. Interesting to see how you handled the different angles with different combinations of knotworks. Kudos for the x-ligatures. 10/10

Thanks everyone!

I actually started this one before Pixular, but I found that representing each letter as pixels, then converting to knots was the way to go.

After seeing some of Frodo's knotwork fonts, I decided to make a fill version of this. It will take a while, but is in the works :-)

Wow, just WOA! This is art, no doubt, iI also see it as a tremendously elegant way to treat what finally is a bitmap font in its core

@LexKominek : as you authorized to clone, I began playing with filterings and i found one that in my opinion makes see this design in new interesting way: the filters must be those : H: 0,720 V: 0,510.
I made a private clone, I will not publish it even if you don't like and don't want to integrate it in your series, it is definitely your design, I would just eventually use this clone in my artwork one day

Oh my goodness. I don't know how you did this, but this is glorious. Excellent use of the Insular style.
Such an incredibly original work deserves a 10 and fave.

Thanks! I basically figured out a way to make the knot pattern, then after making a letter or two, determined it would be better to have a plan of some sort - this is where the "Pixular" font came in.

I've been working on a fill version of this since I made the original - that one is taking a lot of time as well, but should be ready soon :-)
