Then I thought "How about adding a shadow? Just a little shadow for zarzaparrilla..." Hmmm, well, it was a bit more complicated than it may seem at first... But finally here it is! Ta-da-daaa! (-Phew-)

Nice and heavy western font. The samples look amazing. 10/10

Oh wow, this looks really good, that shadow suits this chunky font so well!

@time.peace, @Frodo7 and @four: Thanks a lot for your always kindly comments, compañeros! I've tried to keep the colors from overlapping, which has been laborious on some glyphs. Such a thick shadow was somewhat daring, but I am very pleased with the end result.

@ 99melloja: Wow! Thank you very much for clarifying the authentic origin of this font! Now that I know, I would like to record that it is inspired by "Pionner" (1969), the work of designer Francisco Gonzales. When I started to build it, it only had a few letters (found in the attached image). The rest of the glyphs are totally invented by me, following the style that the others had. In addition to the differences noted, there are also some more in the width and final design of many other letters (I indicate C, G, M, T, W, Y, of the few that I have been able to compare). I would very much like to find a full original character set so that I can improve my font, but haven't found it yet, can anyone help me with this, please? Thanks.

Hi Antonio, Jay (99melloja) had pointed me to your Zarzaparrilla – excellent work, congrats! I had added your FontStruction to the database of Fonts In Use the other day. Thanks for disclosing your source of inspiration. As you probably know, that’s a detail from one of the Peanuts School Year Date Books designed by Determined Productions. (We have a draft about these items at Fonts In Use, but it’s unpublished for now.) I have adjusted the description of Zarzaparrilla to reflect this. For your request: I will see what I can do. Gonzales Pioneer is an exclusive alphabet drawn for Photo-Lettering, Inc. (PLINC), a nw defunct typesetting company in New York. It will be difficult to find a specimen with a full glyph set, but I’ll try to dig up at least a few more letterforms. The PLINC assets including the original film fonts were acquired by House Industries.
