Gob Pixi is an amalgamation of different experiments with colour, display type and visual effects throughout the years of working with a comfortable, personal design palette.
Having been obsessed with grain textures and primary + secondary colours throughout the start of 2020s, I was moved to translate that into typography after seeing Kilotype's Lofi Forest "fizzy-fying" an otherwise sharp-looking Roman/Serif.
Also, I have worked on a type project that got me to layer different coloured shadows and highlights above each other, so this is my attempt at translating that effect onto another typeface that I've shelved for quite a while now. (I happened to come up with something similar to Get Yourself Connected by chance and didn't know what to make do with it.)

1) The typeface that I made via FontStruct (unreleased)
2) Turning the glyphs into 3D with shadows adjusted to different angles (via Illustrator)
3) Turning the solid and 3D glyphs into bitmap images via (Photoshop), and adding colours
4) Layering the bitmap glyphs into one composition, resulting in a colourful type that's "inflated" and pixelated
Finally, the colourful bitmap glyph is transferred into FontStruct by overlaying a translucent FontStructor window above an image output, dotting the colours (initially) pixel by pixel, not much different to diamond painting. After a fair amount of glyphs was done, I started copying already-done glyphs and modifying them to adapt to other glyphs so as to quicken the process.
(It is at this point that I really hoped that Fonstruxius is still available.)
Wow... A lot of thought put into this. The result is awesome!
New frontiers.
Crazy guy)
very interesting concept
Thanks for the kind words! Guess I'll need to leave a sample. Hope typesetting it in FontStruct still counts!
A really interesting (and labour intensive) process. Thanks for sharing it.
It is very cool. In fact, I even think it could become an interesting technology in pixel graphics, like normal maps in 3D graphics.
Striking and labor intensive.
@four, Sychoff & thalamic: Thank you guys!
I managed to finished the capitals and numerals. I'll also leave better type samples below.
