I suddenly had a lot of time on my hands, which resulted in this font. The initial idea was to make a font inspired by the (handwritten?) signs in retail stores, but it quickly took a turn for the more comic.

your design is close to the CASUAL style in sign painting

It sure looks like a lot of time and effort went into this. Excellent!

What a great bit of 'informal' design.

Congratulations! FontStruct Staff have deemed your FontStruction worthy of special mention. “Kapow” is now a Top Pick.

The more I see this design, the better it looks. This really is worth selling on MyFonts.
Comment by p2pnut 11th june 2015
This may be the most thoroughly fun font I've seen on Fontstruct -- or anywhere else. Excellent work!

Smooth!

It looks like handwriting, especially with the slight tilt you've added to the letters. The strokes look very natural. The whole font is very well designed. I agree with p2pnut: it is professional stuff. Once you've completed the character set you can sell it on MyFonts.com. 10/10

Footnote: MyFonts.com no longer accepts fonts made on Fontstruct, unless further processing is done with professional tools to remove redundant anchor points, and to get proper kerning and OT features.
Comment by Frodo7 21st june 2015
Thank you all for the nice comments! I might want to try to sell this when I have a decent character set, so I have read up on the guidelines for submitting fonts to MyFonts.com. This font certainly does need kerning, so when I get around to doing that in some other software, I will probably try to sell a kerned Pro-version of this font.

Thanks again!

I *might* vectorize it if you give me time. I'm going to get Glyphs (full) so I can vectorize as accurate as possible. (Backgrounds are great tools.)

Hey, Frodo7, thanks for that footnote about MyFonts... Good to know. It kind of makes sense, and allows them (and the font's author) to offer a better product.

KAPOW! Nice job, CMunk. And a great character set as well. Cheers!
Comment by SquarePeg 21st june 2015
Great Font! 10/10! One question though... Where are the numbers?! What happened to 1,2,4,5,6,7 and 9?
Comment by Jonathan224 29th june 2015
Great personality - lots of character and characters in this font. There is a rigidity or stiffness that is revealed by simply being a fontstruction, particularly with the curved letters, like O,G, and Q. Rounding out the shapes with subtle beziers in your font editor would make it even more friendlier. Well done!
Comment by geneus1 21st july 2015

Updates to the Fontstruct engine have made it possible to make composite bricks with up to 16 tiles.  Might there be a possible update with a complete set of numbers?  I'd really love to see what you have in mind for the remaining digits.

Comment by John H. Isles (QXZ) 9th july 2016

@JohnHIsles - There have been no updates to the live FontStructor yet. More complex composites is a possibility but not definite.

Comment by Rob Meek (meek) 9th july 2016

My honest mistake. I played around with the HTML 5 version of the Fontstructor and noticed that's where the more complex composites could be made.  I should have mentioned that beforehand.

Man this is good.
