@beate: This is absolutely brilliant. How did you build perfect curves while maintaining the same stroke width? Your font reminds me of Courier New, which I'm very fond of. I believe db Como Sarti represents a new Peak-Fontstruct, at least in technical terms. Well done. 10/10
@ Frodo: You're right. Back then (2005–06), I discovered Steffen Sauerteig's FF Typestar. It has some of the charm of old computer fonts, like Courier New and OCR-A♥︎/B—only much, much cooler and with more uses, such as logos, posters, branding, etc. I like its simplicity and its little touches of sophistication. I think that with all the possibilities FS now offers, I was able to revisit it with enough distance (only 14 years ;)). I noticed that the glyphs weren’t positioned correctly (spacing/kerning), so I rearranged everything and simply started rethinking and redesigning the architecture of some of the glyphs. But the basics—the foundation (height, weight)—were right. That made everything pretty easy, and the pieces just sort of fell into place.
@beate: You have consistently been one of the best here at FontStruct. This font is no exception. I'm always awed by your works. I rarely comment because I have nothing more to add than "excellent" every single time. Do you develop and sell font professionally?
@ thalamic: Your comment really touches me. There are so many talented people and truly skilled Fonstruct experts here. But thank you for the compliment. In fact, I’m thinking about focusing my design work on typography. I just get so much joy out of trying out new concepts and design languages. Typography has become a bit of a passion of mine over the last few years. My db HeavyLight was one of the defining typography projects. It was chosen as the corporate font for a lovely little exhibition featuring black-and-white photographs. Right now, I’m rediscovering some of my old Fonstruct fonts and would like to update them a bit. I’m not quite done with db Como yet. Next up is… : )
