From the 1983 Nintendo Super Mario Bros. predecessor game Mario Bros. This variation can also be seen in the 1984 Capcom game Pirate Ship Higemaru.

there's arleady a font called Press Start and Press Start 2P which looks the same as this except it has lowercases

@erikkoev - There are a few subtle differences between the Mario Bros. (1983) character set and Codeman38's "Press Start" series, not to mention the latter's lowercase comes from "Return of Ishtar" (1986).
