This font was based around the theme 'Messy'. I took inspiration from the imperfect calligraphy of Gemma O'Brien. I like the way her letterforms seem like they've been drawn out quickly and I tried to recreate this in Fontstruct. Another thing I looked at was how some artists used anything as a pen, so for this I tried a few unconventional things to create patchy looking type. I ended up using an old rubber brake pad for a bicycle, I think this looked nice because of its shape and rigidity. I think this embodies my theme well because it has the sketchy marks and generally untidy qualities.
