The task for this project was to create a digital typeface using Fontstruct. From a selection of themes, I chose energy. Piquant was designed on strong emphasis of an attractive, sharp and energetic structure. Inspired by the modern typeface of late 18th century, boasting characteristics of stroke contrast, abrupt serifs, vertical axis, horizontal stress and small aperture. I have incorporated and manipulated these features into my typographic font along with a unique appearance of flowing characters that portray an energetic flux. Piquant exhibits bold lively curvature, sharp serifs and stimulating edge to an empowered lowercase character set. The font is to be used in larger sizes in plenty of white space, with generous leading and tracking to ultimately lend a striking visual quality.
