SFmunicipal is based on the flip-disc displays used by some of the older MUNI trains in San Francisco. N is the gridded version.

Nice rendition. Take a gander at Muni, one of the first FontStructions.

Ah, that's a great one. Full character set too.That'll teach me to poke around more before I make another font. I'm actually trying to do a lowercase that's confined to the same grid as the caps, but that may be unrealistic. I see Muni took the caps as a point of departure.

You may want to check out http://fontstruct.com/fontstructions/show/geascript_39 which also features lowercase letters despite the restrictions.
