One of my old designs brought up-to-date with FS 2.0 I have changed the name from 'RM Albion Too' to 'RM New Albion' because, whilst I liked the word play of the former, I thought it was a tad trite (and a bit Anglo-centric).

Ray, this is a perfect example of how FS 2.0 allowed you to make a gorgeous font even more beautiful. 10/10!

P.S. It appears that my 10 vote didn't register. I'll try again later.

Ah, there's my 10! :)

Simply gorgeous!

Plus, you have the patience of a saint.

Beautiful work p2pnut...excellent improvments.
Comment by aphoria 15th july 2010
A FS classic got even better. Magnificent!

PS: Please, allow me a few words of indignation. I really don't understand the folks about here. Whoever rated this work as mediocre (5), I really want to know what he/she thinks about his/her own fontstructing endeavours. If there is any, at all.
Comment by Frodo7 15th july 2010
The vote has been corrected to 9, this was surely an accident
Comment by Abneurone Fluid Types 15th july 2010
@neuron error: I appreciate your honesty and quick response. Frankly, I thought there was something seriously wrong with the picture. My rating for this distinguished work: 10/10
Comment by Frodo7 15th july 2010
Sorry that was an accident. But i can't make a 10, because you know originality and queerness are important for me, even if technically it is awsome, and there are some really beautiful glyphs here and there, i really prefer the madness of, for example, the Magick set at Walden.com in which the fonts seem really alien when they are the transcription of very old manuscripts. Because if you go on Dafont.com and go to the theme section Medieval Gothic, you have dozens of old english fonts that look more or less like RM Albion, even if they are surely not all as fine and elegant...

Many thanks for the positive comments and votes.

I have always acknowledged that this is just another take on a tried and tested traditional design. In many of my endeavours (wood carving, pen and ink drawing etc.) I have always enjoyed the satisfaction of a craftsman, rather than the inspired creativity of an artist. FS affords me the pleasure of indulging in the fringes of the typographers craft ... but often (as here) whilst standing on giants shoulders.

Ocassionally I drag something slightly original from the depths of my imagination (Entrees, Scrapheap etc.), but on the whole I am content to bumble along in my own way - enjoying my simple satisfactions and sharing them with anyone who feels them to be worthwhile.

perfect 10!
this font is soo smooth. very good work. I love the feeling coming out from the font.

Congratulations! FontStruct Staff have deemed your FontStruction worthy of special mention. “RM New Albion” is now a Top Pick.
Comment by afrojet 17th july 2010
This font is a masterpiece. I tried to pick a favourite glyph, and I'd have to go with the 'I' for it's simple beauty. It was a tough choice though, as there are many wonderful letters such as 'S' and 'a', in fact they all have a polish and feel to them that your vision for these letters trancends fontstucts limitations and communicates the intent perfectly. Simply stunning work.

Thanks to everyone for the kind comments ... and thanks aj for the TP :)

I am currently working on the diacritics and am enjoying this so much I may well end up doing the whole lot.

simply exquisite. i have always appreciated your craftsmanship in your work. this is most definitely one of your best creations. your body of work is one of most strong and diverse here at FS. and when you 'drag something original from the depths of your imagination,' you usually knock it out of the ballpark or whatever the British equivalent of that would be :)
Comment by funk_king 19th july 2010
Great, great work. The limits of FS are in your hands. Excellent design of gliphs and calligraphy. Always I have liked to do one as this one (but I do not know if I will have the sufficient patience for it). 10/10.

excellent job.
Comment by caliopigio 20th july 2010
Stellar work. Its interesting to compare the old one to the new. Ditto what thalamic said.
Comment by geneus1 24th july 2010
Very nice, however I think that this type of font is greatly overused.
Comment by Storked 1st august 2010
I have no idea how you made this. This is amazing.

nice nice GB
Comment by ivan delafe 22nd september 2010
WTF How did you get all those different curves??
Comment by Zefyrinus 23rd september 2010
Ray, the magnificent RM Nova Albion looks even better each time I view it!
In the description, however, you still refer to it as RM New Albion.

I've also noticed that ivan delafe seems to be addressing you as GB. Does that stand for Great Brit? :)
Comment by fontcollector 23rd september 2010
@fontcollector : to admire this design at a higher level, you might want to know that Ray as published a pro version with more than 300 glyphs at Myfonts.com
Comment by Abneurone Fluid Types 23rd september 2010
Hi all, thanks for the nice comments.

Sorry I haven't been on the live feed for ages - too busy I'm afraid.

@Zefyrinus - This was just not possible before the recent great inprovements to FS. Most of the new angles are available at dynippa's fantastically helpful page: here

@fontcollector - thanks for pointing out the name anomaly ... and I've no idea why ivan delafe mentioned GB.

@neurone error - I have tried to ensure that the fonts I release on MyFonts have the full diacritic sets so that they might appeal to all Latin language users ... but so far the only (very few) sales have been in the US. Still, it's early days yet.
Comment by p2pnut 23rd september 2010
I totally agree with fontcollector. The curves are wonderful

@janking: Congratulations!! Your hectoring, abusive bullying has finally driven neurone error to remove all his work from the site ... what a sad little girl you are.

ne gave much pleasure to many on this site - we may not all have fully got where he was coming from all the time, but we loved his enthusiasm and commitment. You, on the other hand, have managed to produce exactly two fonts in the two years that you have been here. That and an unbelievable quantity of nasty, bile-ridden, personal claptrap.

I said previously that perhaps it was time to stop using ne's comments page as a message board - obviously that was far too subtle for you. Now you may have the opportunity of replying on this page ... however, I should warn you that anything other than an abject apology to ne (and everyone else who has had to put up with your rants) is liable to be removed.

Hope this helps. I have also shown how I park my 'toolbox' of angles ... copied from http://fontstruct.com/fontstructions/show/all_bricks_6 ... this is cloneable ;)
Comment by p2pnut 30th march 2012
YES, thats a very good font. All my compliments !
Comment by beate 30th march 2012
Maby the strokes from the € could be a bit longer?
Comment by beate 30th march 2012
@p2pnut - Terrific idea! That's a very smart way to organize the "toolbox" of angled bricks into more logical--and useful--groupings.
Comment by Goatmeal 31st march 2012
@Goatmeal: I find it so useful. Just copy and paste it into the glyph I am working on ... just have to make sure I delete it when I have finished!
Comment by p2pnut 1st april 2012
If I had a quarter every time I saw such an awesome font... I would'nt have anything due to my spending habits. But my point is I'd have nothing cause I spent the 25¢ from yours...
Comment by RXF3496_FS10947 9th may 2012
@RXF3496_FS10947: Many thanks :) Hope to see some of your work in the near future - FS is great fun, so have a go.
Comment by p2pnut 9th may 2012

It must have taken you a long time!
Comment by aemil 9th october 2012
WOW. This just reminds me of how much my fonts suck compared to yours. 10/10+FAV
Comment by Noah F. Ross (winty5) 26th january 2013
@winty5: Your work certainly doesn't 'suck'. You have come on in leaps and bounds since you came here.
There is always so much more to learn - and that adds to the excitement of our typographical quests. I have a bit of a headstart on you (I am 7 times your age!) ... but I still look forward to learning and improving my skills every day.
Comment by p2pnut 26th january 2013
You're right, I have come pretty far since the my first messy and unreadable fonts. But still, I don't really have any real knowledge about compositing, and most of my fonts are really just to see what FS can do.
Comment by Noah F. Ross (winty5) 26th january 2013
This is simply amazing! 10/10 +fav!

This font looks as if you used a vector design tool instead of the Fontstructor.

That's incredibly impressive.
