cool ink traps

@bluemon: thanks! was directly inspired by your "Quadriana"

Nice!! I especially love the "f". The "w" is also interesting but it is quite dense where the strokes meet and perhaps could also benefit from ink traps.

Comment by Houlaiziaa 16th july 2022

I share Houlaiziaa's opinion on 'W' being quite a bit too dense (which often quickly becomes the case in bold designs), but I think this is actually the case for all the following characters: 'M, N, Ww, Zz'

Like suggested by 'Houlaiziaa' inktraps would be a great and perhaps even the best solution given your design parameters. Anther solution that could help cutting weight in certain critical areas would be the use of inwards tapered strokes .

I know that many characters doesn't necessarily require the implementation of any inktraps, but in my opinion often these fonts that only have inktraps implemented to a couple of their characters, and solely in their problematic areas tend to suffer from this aesthetically. In the case of your font, for the uppercase set I think the absence of inktraps doesn't really affect aesthetics. But within the lowercase set for example the absence of inktraps results in a slight stylistic misfit, as characters such as 'c, e, o, s, and z' now somewhat appear to look unfinished of forgotten.
(although I'm very well aware of the difficult nature of properly designing inktraps for all the characters)

To continue nitpicking, the ofset done in 'Kk, Xx' I personally don't like and would rather have seen these characters centered like you did with 'B', and unlike with the others I think this ofset in fact was the right thing to do for 'R' like you did there as well.

But yeah, bluemon was right to say "cool inktraps", for the characters to wich you did these 'right' they really do look cool.

Cheers
