Why "hide" and "show"?

here I just wanted to understand how it works and I did'nt understand everyting or my computer or IE6 makes it work in a different way.
And I do'nt understand everything in english. Why not a forum?
But it was fun for me.
But my screen is too small I supposed to easy work.

Have a nice day.
