If you type with CAPS LOCK the letters will be quarter notes. If you type without caps lock the letters will be half notes (at the end of a sentence they will be either dotted half or dotted quarter.) Numbers are whole notes. Don't hit space at the beginning of a sentence because space makes notes eighth notes. Just play around with the font and you will see what I mean -
