I can get the colors like in the sample on GIMP by selecting Colors > Hue-Saturation, setting Hue to 180, then picking Colors > Invert, which is probs what they did when the sample is made…
red & blue in all of my colorful fonts are arbitrary — red is ec3030 and blue 3030ec (i use these two codes just because i can easily remember them) — i expect everyone will change both colors according to his/her likings in use. in the sample, colors are inverted (in Inkscape filter - can't recall precise settings - was doing it haphazardly), then i also added (all over) a transparent-reddish veil (can't recall exact hue).
