Tomodachi Collection,[1] unofficially known as Friend Collection before its sequel was announced for a Western release,[2] is the first installment in the Tomodachi Life series. The game was released for the Nintendo DS in Japan on June 18, 2009. In Tomodachi Collection, players can make their own Miis or import them from a Wii console and move them into apartments.

Tomodachi Collection is one of only five Nintendo DS titles with Mii character support, the others being Personal Trainer: Walking, Yosuke Ide no Kenkou Mahjong DSi (DSiWare/Nintendo DSi), Kuruma de DS, and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time. These games, with the exception of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time, also include a Mii Maker (a precursor to the Nintendo 3DS version).[3]

It was both developed and published by Nintendo. Tomodachi Life is the second game in the Tomodachi Life series, succeeding Tomodachi Collection.

A sequel, Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, is set to release for the Nintendo Switch in 2026.
