Rip it up, and start again. You will never achieve the desired result. Especially if you want the perfect circle as the letter "O'. Not unless you sacrifice the thickness, and create squashed composites of the arch brick.

Everybody has a different starting point. I always begin with the lower case 'a' or 's' then build the rest from there.
