:::DBA MUSLIM::: DBA comes from "don't be afraid" I'm really disturbed when the world is being Islamophobic... oh my god.. They think all terrorists are Muslim.. No! The fact is 6% of terrorist attack in US and 0.4% terrorist attack in Europe are Muslim. That was very tiny number. I just wanna get my full right as world society and i can get all of appreciation of humanity and recognition of our community (i.e our people, religion, cultures, folks, traditions). I'm Indonesian Muslim, i see many differences between Indonesian Muslim and Middle East Muslim. We'r rather like Turkey, we are moderate Muslim. We live together with Christians, Catholics, Hindu, Buddhist, Kong Hu Chu, some other Jews in a peace. (Indonesia is anti with Atheism) A = Crescent Moon and Star B = Muslim (Boy) C = Muslimah (Girl) D = Ordinary Muslimah with Hijab E = Stylish Muslimah with Hijab F = Ninja Muslimah (hehehe) :D G = Burq Muslimah H = Mislimah without Hijab I = Bad Muslimah J = Masjid K = Holy Quran L = Holy Quran Portable Table M = 'God' in Arabic N = Mohammad in Arabic O = Kabbah (the cube) P = The Darvish of Sufism Q = Tasbeh (helpful tool for Dzikr) R = Sajdah (place to sujud) S = Bottled Zamzam water T = Palm Tree

Very nice and friendly font.

Well, I suppose the Muslims are just the new Soviets at the moment. I'm sure it will pass over. But then again that's easy for me to say from the "other side".

The only way forward is by proving the "west" wrong, like you do with this font ;)

whoa! thanks elmo. Are you jews?
I never talk to jews before :)
(there are jews in small number in Indonesia)

Yeah, i appreciate your arguments too.. human rights right? :)

Well, I'm christian, and so is elmoyenique, judging from the comment he put on my eastereggs font.

Jews are also a very small minority where I'm from in Denmark, but I do know one person who has family in Israel. And now that I think of it he does seem to have the genetic traits of a jew, but he too is christian.
Comment by Christian Munk (CMunk) 2nd may 2011
Yes, I am a christian, but before that I am person. I do not like your glyphs "F" and "G". I think those pictures degrade women's under those dresses. They do not deserve to carry a punishment for being born female. And I do not like your glyph "I" because it seems to put women as being obscene, and are not. They are like you and me. Religions have been a source of conflict since antiquity, but I do not want that to happen between you and me. I admire your work, I share many things with you, and I do not want this kind of things do you look at me differently. Go Fontstructing, please!
Comment by elmoyenique 2nd may 2011
I'm sorry to butt in here, and I apologise if I'm doing so wrongly, but Elmoyenique, you might not realise this but there are those women who choose to wear those dresses with as much peer pressure on them as I choose to wear flipflops instead of sneakers, especially in Indonesia. Perhaps for those women who don't want to wear them but must due to family pressure, it is degrading, but for those who choose to wear it, to be told what they wear degrades women is very offensive to them (I would be degraded if someone told me my beard degrades men because it makes us look like monkeys, for a parallel). There may be sexist origins for the full body covering in religion, but it is up to the individual to decide for themself if they agree with such sexist things.

Anyway, it is an issue with many sides to view it from no doubt, as is the case with all religions and their quirks (which are really human quirks ;))

I hope I haven't offended anyone. Anyway, I like the font, it's cute and looks very happy :) - I'm a student of the Indonesian language so it's nice to see the Indonesian culture shining through with regards to religious tolerance.

@Elmoyenique : Slippery (and courageous) discussion. Hope it will not crash. My mother is a fervent orthodox (she's greek), but in my teens i rejected religion, and becoming more mature i began to search a "spirituality" out of a religion context. I think religion is only an affair of politics and that's why it generates so many conflicts. I think spirituality should be an individual affair and not a ritualised ideologized communitarian thing, because as such it becomes the open door to intolerance, obscurantism, and crusades of all sorts, even if the initial message should be positive. It's for positive reasons and to practice the love message of Jesus Christ that Inquisitors condemned, tortured and burned as satanized sorcerers poor old women who were just continuing to make alive the old pagan rites they have learned and which were the only spirituality they could understand...

I think Peace can not be achieved through community, because men are men and when they are some together, they feel more strong and need to conqueer and dominate, and the most beautiful initial messages end in bloodbaths. I prefer to learn from people who search to gain strength not by being many, but alone, such as the antique cynic philosopher Diogene, who dare say to the emperor who has right of life and death on him : Keep out of my sun, because he lives in the pure present, and has no fear because he doesn't have no hope or regrets anymore, he's just alive, when so many people live as dead alive, looking always to future and past and missing the "living" part...

@elmo: i think, the 'F', 'G' and 'I' is no problem. Other dresses are no problem too. We have shown where the good way and bad way, our task is just selecting which one we want. World is freedom. People always know the consequences in this life and afterlife. So, each man will get the 'response' of their own effort (although that was good or bad). There is no coercion and pressure. Everyone decide what they want. Thats why God made heaven and hell.
Yeah, human always made war and damage in this world. Hence, we must know and understand each other. Diversity is mercy right? :D

@naurone: agreed some. I think we need to believe in something. I know our science now is not prove the existence of God yet. But, when we are despair, sad, feelin down, or where will we go when we have no direction? . . . God

My religion teach me to do not think about God physically coz human science is never reach the level. So, i'll keep believe and trough this life. I like you more, than atheist. At least, you still believe in 'something' :D

@crissomerry: i agree alot of you.. why people always assume that muslima are forced to use hijab or burqa. The pressure in family just happen in the small number.

we are only a community, and community must understand other communities. I love to make friends with christian, jews, hindus, buddist, Confucianism, or the other traditional religion. Diversity is mercy :D

How nice to see a friendly religious viewpoint-sharing (to avoid nasty words such as 'debate' or 'discussion').

@Adien: Yes, to me science and religion are completely seperate. In the debate of "evolution vs. intelligent design" for example, science deduces that creatures over millions of years change their shape slightly, depending on the survival of the most well adapted, who will then pass on their genes. Science has not mentioned God. God can play any role one might want in this situation. Maybe God had always planned that a giraffe should have a long neck to reach the tops of the trees, and evolution was how he designed that. Or maybe he put the simple organisms on earth and let them evolve on their own.

Whatever you bellieve, it is fine. But remember, science is not religion. Science finds out what works and what doesn't and makes up rules according to that. If suddenly something changes, science is ready to adapt and say: "What we thought was true is not true; this is how it really works."

Religion, on the other hand, is bellieving without seeing. It's trusting that [put in your main god here] will make sure that everything will be allright. And I am sure it will!

@Neuroneerror, I've written religion all over this post. Feel free to read spirituality, where you want to ;)

@elmo&cmunk: im glad to do no discussion or debate here.. just sharing, we all are friends :)

I don’t think you should censor your expression, but I would like to know more about the message you intend with the swimsuit/undergarment sporting ‘bad muslimah’.

Do you mean bad as in ‘morally depraved, wicked’? Is she wicked, if not godless, because of her half-nakedness and potential belly button piercing?
Comment by William Leverette (will.i.ૐ) 22nd may 2011
ok, your english is so hard for me (even i use Google translate). I think using of swimsuit/undergarment sporting (in case of going outdoor and seen by public) is one of act that break the morality rule in Islam. I think it's ok if she was not a muslimah coz we are taking easy with another people who out of Islam to act freely the will.
Comment by Adien Gunarta (Adien Gunarta) 23rd may 2011
@Adien : What is problematic for me is that the rules are much more severe for women than for men! That just indicates that the initial texts were written by men who (consciously or not) wanted to keep secure their advantage upon women. Nature is female. Earth is a female word. Water is female. Air is, say, neutral. The only elemental energy really masculine would be the Fire, the Sun. Old Pre-Monotheist Civilizations knew and respected this. The female part of elemental life which is where is the real, natural power, makes feel weak and afraid the little men, that's why men need to make war, to fight to prove they exist... So, when they had the occasion when emerged the new religions to reverse the tendancy, they edicted rules that assured the man supremacy and reduced as they could the expansion potentialities of women. And if later they burned pagan witches saying they were under Satan spell, i'm convinced it was more because their ultimate powerful reference was a Mother and not a Father, and they expressed the real potential and strength of women, simply LIFE.
Comment by Abneurone Fluid Types 23rd may 2011
well. women and men are completely different. AlQuran says that men have exceeded in potential and power. The power of soul and physic.
Women is relatively hard to control her self. Women have big passion to live freely. Hence, there will needed some extra rules for women. You know what? the first recognition of women rights is toward early Islam. Women is asked to do freely what they want but never pass trough the 'boundaries'.. Looks, women now are really asked for emancipation (the same rights with men), are they realized that they are not same in power. Did women be able to work hardly? Was women is best in sport? Did women prefer to choose their logic to their feeling? I learn little psychology...
Comment by Adien Gunarta (Adien Gunarta) 23rd may 2011
@Adien : Your comment/reaction is a good demonstration of what i said above.
Comment by Abneurone Fluid Types 23rd may 2011
@Adien : Also... About strength, it's not so easy or obvious. For example, the tardigrade is a really small animal about 1mm long for an adult, a man can easily destroy it between his fingers. Is the man stronger than the tardigrade amongst the animal reign ? That's not sure... cause this small thing can resist to high X-RAY radiations 1000 times higher than humans can, it resists at really high and low temperatures still being alive at -272°C (-458°F) and at 150°C (302°F). And NASA studies it because it's the only animal and quasi the only living thing (just some rare bacteria can) not to be simply disintegrated in space beyond atmosphere, some could even could come back alive ! Its resistenza is a scientific mystery. But we can easily crush it between our fingers... Just to think about...
Comment by Abneurone Fluid Types 23rd may 2011
okay. everyone has their own superiority :)
Comment by Adien Gunarta (Adien Gunarta) 28th may 2011
It’s true; everyone in their deepest essence (their soul, perhaps) has a unique and authentic voice, form, and way of making beauty, which is all holy to me. Equal rights are one thing, but I have never found anyone to be the equivalent of another and thank God for this!

We live in a world where many find their voice, their dreams, their bodies, and their choices in life ruled by others. Women clearly suffer the cruelest extremes of this soul-crushing practice, and religion is only one of many ways her will and body are bent and broken to serve others.

I find these acts of oppression an unfortunate and horrific reality, especially the violence visited upon children and little girls, but by no means do I point my finger at Muslim peoples to call them the sole perpetrators of this deeply rooted cultural malady. It’s a systemic mental illness that spans human civilization, and it informs the way we treat not just our women, mothers and daughters, lovers and wives, sisters and friends, but the Earth herself.

DBA - don't be afraid? The first time I was to visit Denpasar, Indonesia, early November 2002, we had to change our plans. The reason: members of the Islamist group, Jemaah Islamiyah detonated 3 bombs killing 202 people and wounding many more. Instead, we stayed in Singapore and visited Malaysia later.

There is no problem with Islam as a religion, as long as it's not mandatory. It's a personal decision, a private matter between you and your chosen supreme being /you name it/. The problem is with radical Islam, as a violent political philosophy. It is all about absolute power, total control of people. In this respect, radical Islam is not better, nor worse than previous totalitarian systems including medieval Catholicism.

The burqua predates Islam many centuries. It has nothing to do with the teaching of the Quran. It was invented in ancient patriarchal societies in Persia and Middle East by jealous men who treated women as livestock they owned. There is no place in modern society for a garment covering the whole body and face. It makes all personal interaction impossible. I fondly agree with the French president, Nicolas Sarkozy who said the burqa is not welcome. He continued: "In our country, we cannot accept that women be prisoners behind a screen, cut off from all social life, deprived of all identity".

You dont visit bali, and go to Malaysia. Malaysia is Islam country too. But there, there is very tiny number of islam radical. The annoying one is there is racial system in Malaysia that divided people in to muslim and muslim, the real malaysian dan non-real malaysian..

DBA Persons! "Die Religion ... Sie ist das Opium des Volkes" ("Religion is the opium for the people"; 1844, Karl Marx). Religion for some people it's a help..., for some others it's just a bloody way to distribute more pain! My choice was the first one. I don't understand and I don't admit the second one.
Comment by elmoyenique 29th may 2011
@Adien Gunarta: No country is perfect. I know Malaysia has a Muslim majority. That's not a problem. The point is, there were no suicide bombers there who thought their religious duty was to kill as many infidels as they could. You see, even if those radicals constitute a tiny fraction, they can utterly ruin the public image about Muslims.

@elmoyenique: "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." This quote is frequently attributed to Voltaire. According to leading scholars, who extensively studied his works, he never said or wrote that. No credible source have been found. It is ironic, that the prolific French writer and philosopher, who wrote more than 2000 books and other works, and tens of thousands of letters and essays, is remembered by a quote he, actually, has nothing to do with.
