Yes, George Arnold (bufb) did that with great success in his font 'Midtown'. Because of the contrast, his V is about the same with as his Z, even though they use the same diagonals.

nice clean font. the letters a m v w do not have the usual cotrast and look like fat spots, unlike x. counter p can do a little more.

Make contrast for them like in Optima font?
