Vykra is a conlang script based on the concept of a syllabic alphabet and inspired by plants.

The upper case is the plant body, while the lowercase is the root. As such it is necessary to write this script in alternating case (AlTeRnAtInG CaSe) so as to place an upper and lower case letter together.

The full stop symbol is used for words consisting of one letter to provide a root.

also, what's the big black glyph at the beginning?

Comment by tanias 3rd december 2015

Hi Tanias, hope you had a great thanksgiving!

In orer to build a script that would allow two glyphs to sit on top of one another I had to alter the letter widtha for uppercase letters to 0 so that the lower case would fit underneath. Unfortunately it means that fontstruct bunches them all up in a messy pile!

I am thinking about altering it so that lower case is on the other side of the base lines but it sometimes causes alignment issues.

Glad you like Vykra!

I've always enjoyed these clever fonts that involve alternating caps to do nifty tricks that arent possible with other fonts, like your Vykra here.

Thanks for clarifying, and like your ideas!

Thanks guys,

I've altered how these are laid out, shouldn't make any difference to the use of the font, just makes it look a little better in fontsrtuct!

How do you type the "full stop" symbol? Also how do you type a period?

Comment by tsafontstruct 3rd june 2021

Full stop is the UK term for a period. To type the fullstop, add a spave and then the period that will add the symbol in.
