Phonetic, originating from Greek, is a word that describes what the pronunciation of letters and/or words sound like. For example, the letter ‘A’ is pronounced ‘aye’. This font is an attempt to influence the phonetics of each letter in the alphabet. Using all lowercase letterforms to produce my uppercase font, every letter in this typeface will have its own systematic design so that the viewer can essentially read the sound of the letter. Calligrams are a word or piece of text in which the design and layout of the letters creates a visual image related to the meaning of the words themselves.
