it's one of my fixed habits. this goes way back to my childhood. some passwords on SNES drove me crazy because i couldn't make out the difference between O and 0 and had to start again… (too much information i guess) :)

Ha, that's funny :)
I don't personally think round dots or dots at all fit into this strong beauty of a font. May I offer a solution:
A diagonal line through the centre of the 0 would look much better, and possibly better than just a blank 0.
