For my first font, I thought I'd keep it simple, and make a pixel font. Originally I chose 8x6 pixels, but changed to 8x5 when I couldn't get centred letters looking right (especially Y). This then became 11x5 when doing lower case. I have tried to make this readable and have a consistent x-height of 5 pixels, and ascenders and descenders of 3 pixels each. -
