thanks jet and em. the stray mark is for leading. since fs doesn't have any height control option, this is what i have used. i started using it when i starting working 2X2 and noticed the tops of characters were clipped. others use a similar technique if not always so obvious. i don't know if this has been corrected with all the improvements, so i just keep using it to be safe :)

I like the way the descenders overlap. Very loopy.

I used to extend the topmost brick on the bar glyph in order to achieve a proper preview using 2x2. That's all changed with the latest update to the preview widget.
