The same font was reused (and expanded) in "Mega Man X2" (1994) and "Mega Man X3" (1995). This recreation includes the fully expanded character set of the later games. It also retains the strangely mismatched "]" character of the original.

Interestingly, it does not use the (fairly standard) font from the arcade version (1988) but - and something I only found out after I finished the recreation - actually uses the same font as the arcade version of Namco's "Dragon Saber" (1990) http://fontstruct.com/fontstructions/show/dragon_saber but with a more limited set of characters.

Note the lowercase "r", used for "Dr.Wily" and "Dr.Light", and the "" characters.

The main difference from the Mega Man 1+2 font are the "K" and "Q" characters, the "r.", the spacing on the "1" and the shape of the comma and single quote.

Note the lowercase "r", used for "Dr.Wily" and "Dr.Light", the "", and the "TM" character, which is actually double-wide at 16px (compared to the other characters which follow the classic Nintendo 8x8px tile size).
