A criação do tipo Thesus teve por principio o condensamento da fonte TheSerif para demonstrar os cortes de que o Presidente da República Cavaco Silva foi se queixou. Foi concedido maior peso à serifa, com o fim de demonstrar que os políticos estão diversas vezes “agarrados” aos cargos. Esta opção conferiu ao sistema uma forte personalidade. Na construção foi tida em conta a forma de funcionamento da ferramenta fontstruct, Aquando o planeamento foram feitas propostas tendo por base esse método de construção.
