  • Dungeon Rooms - although originally intended as a utility for prototyping simple dungeons, has multiple purposes: writing letters within boxes, connecting the dots (maybe) or whatever you can do with it.

Currently it features 27 rooms and plenty of symbols to use within them.

    STILL A WORK IN PROGRESS

    - = + How to use this font + = -

    1. Place a symbol (lowercase or punctuation listed somewhere below)

    --- Letters inside rooms ---

Each lowercase letter displays a 3x3 letter inside the box. Since 3x3 is ridiculously unreadable, I used some 0.5 bricks. Note that the lowercase and other entities meant to be placed within rooms technically have zero width, thus, to view them all you need to put spaces between them / set a high spacing value.

    --- Add. Entities ---

    . , ? ! + - / < = > \ | are what they should be, but within the same limit of 3x3

( and ) depict liquids (water, lava etc.)

_ # are dithered tiles to use inside rooms, while $ is a black tile

2/11/2018 @ As requested by zephram, added tiles representing some kind of liquids (water, lava, magma, anything you can think of), placed on ( and ).

    2/12/2018 @ Added some Cyrillic characters and Greek "α", "β" and "γ".

    2/12/2018 @ FINALLY ADDED "@"

    > Since the font spread over the Basic Latin charset, I have placed some tiles in More Latin. For an easier placement of needed tiles, you can use Character Map app on Windows (Windows Accessories > Character Map). There, you need to switch the active font to Dungeon Rooms and double-click characters you need. They will be entered into the text field, from which you can copy them.

Do you think you can add numerals so I can use them?

Comment by anonymous-1520403 10th february 2018

@Se7enty-Se7en, I definitely do, but, unfortunately, at the moment I am away from my dear PC, so will only be able to continue working next week.

@zephram, nice ideas, will try them as well (again, when I finally return home and have access to my PC.)

@Se7enty-Se7en, numerals are finally ready, you can check them out ;)

Also remade lowercases to fit the style of numerals

So, @zephram, dwarves from the northern outpost sent us some water and lava. Our manager appointed them to ( and ). Don't know if I will be able to make diagonal paths, but will try to. Enjoy!

Windows Accessories > Character Map

Switch the fon to Dungeon Rooms and double-click on a character to enter it into the text field below the charmap (Characters to copy), then click Copy. Good luck!

Can you also put the up right path on @ as well...

Comment by anonymous-1520403 12th february 2018

@Se7enty-Se7en, if you mean that UP+R path that just didn't fit in the A-Z range, it is on the À. The reason why I didn't use @ is that I plan to make it a different symbol (remember Adventure Mode in Dwarf Fortress or roguelikes, where @ is usually used for drawing the main char.)

Comment by Cookielord 12th february 2018

You do know I cannot type À on a US keyboard without the numpad... I have a custom layout...

Comment by anonymous-1520403 12th february 2018

@Se7enty-Se7en, I don't use a layout with accented letters as well, but look up to the image where I explained how to use Character Map--a pre-installed Windows app which can be found in Windows Accessories folder in Start menu.

Comment by Cookielord 12th february 2018

I noticed you have a pre-composed character you can type by typing c then A

it would be cool to swap the P and E, and to swap the W and T so that maps could be created with random text. E and T are the most common letters, and the 'pass-through' glyphs are at P and W. Or you could move the W to the space.

First sample ready, cap'n!

Comment by Cookielord 12th february 2018

@jongrover, layout is a big problem indeed, and you've got a nice idea over there. I'll try it! Thanks for the suggestion ^.^
