Based on the font 'Kettler' (Eric Olson, 2002), which in turn is a tribute to the great 'Courier' (1955) by Howard "Bud" Kettler. As often happens to me, this recreation was born from the attempt to improve some characteristics of the original glyphs that I considered appropiated, in addition to being able to have a personal modern typewriter font. The monospace of this kind of letters has been a bit relaxed on this occasion. PS: Thanks for the helpful hand from @Sed4tives!
This is a clonePlease enjoy a private clone to see how I dealt with contrast, curves, bracketing, variable letter width and the difficult-to-achieve emboldening of the capitals’ vertical strokes within a minimal fontstruct matrix (and If you like what you see, please download for personal usage and vote kindly! :)
Intaglio’s amazing recent work makes similar strides (see the excellent rounds, for example), offering a solution before me to several of these long-standing impasses of the medium.
More characters to come... :)
This is a cloneHappy 10th anniversary to FS and all the fontstructors! Thanks a million to Meek and the sponsors. This is a wonderful trip and the future is infront of us, compañeros!
BTW, "Sorpasso" means "overtaking" in italian.
I'm kerning...
Unicase with alternates (a, e, m, n, u...). You can find also an extra "&" at the ™ glyph and a "c" at the ¢. Inspired on the wonderful Goliath (1970) by Vincent Pacella, but with its own personallity.
My first entry for Serifcomp. Originally created in 2013, when I still had little knowledge about the finer details of type design. I've made major changes to the original design while trying not to lose its original feel (avoiding diagonal strokes, for example). I ended up making major changes to M, Q, T, W, f, k, m, q, r, t, and w, and minor changes to a bunch more; a ton of kerning was also required. It's not very polished yet, but it's a start...
Some alternates are available in Latin Extended A. As always, suggestions and critiques are welcome. Thanks and enjoy!
