I've recently discovered this interesting community, "a type factory" of sorts. Watch the video on their main page if you're interested. Anyway, it's a good place to practice font creation.
They've recently launched their first contest: to publish a font inspired by one of the three samples, one of them is Naation:
i looked at Fontyou. On the paper it's interesting, but when i see what they call refreshing and new to be actually so boring and unoriginal, i'm more than doubtful. I hope you can bring some "real" freshness to this world but i wonder if they just can receive any of it. Hopefully you have sent them something more "classical" than your usual. Good luck anyway!
@AFT. Well, they, as everybody else, create text fonts, so no wonder why they may seem unoriginal to us. They also have some vector fonts on HelloFont, and they're not that boring. Plus it's just a good way to practice font creation, I like developing the whole character set out of some logos and samples, and FontYou is a perfect platform for that.
Regarding the contest, I don't think it went they way they planned, only 5-6 entries, 2 of them are mine. It looks like it's too early for them to organize contests right now, maybe after a year or two...
II checked out FONTYOU a while back, and while it's a good concept, it doesn't seem very good if you are a font designer already, as the percentage they offer for completed fonts is really poor.
It seems to be aimed at illustrators or artists who can draw typefaces but don't know how to convert them into useable fonts, or don't have the time to market them.
It may work, only time will tell.
Update:
I was one of the winners, but they're not going to publish it through their foundry, I guess I have to publish this by myself. Any suggestions for a name?

f could be mistaken for t, but still nice!
