When I was planning this I was going to do it on a tiny scale, but it would have involved some tricky composites and the spacing would have been pants. Why give myself grief? It was quite enough of a mission without any extra drama. And the illegal joins would have looked awful. I'm an illegal-joins sort of guy. I can't seem to resist making headaches for myself.

I'm not sure I'd use the term silly to describe the descenders—I rather like them. This is very interesting, and I particularly love the numbers.

I've been out of action for a few days with a horrible bit of sickness, hopefully I'm on the mend. Thank you for your kind comments and the top pick.
