I sorry to say, but I still think this is just way too similar to my NCD Autonium. Some of the characters are EXACTLY the same.

@djnippa: Many of the characters are different, and I don't think demonics was even trying to base it off of this, I think he was trying to base it off of my 5Quadrislash and thalamic's Quartertined, but with the finished product ending up looking similar to your Autonium. You see that this has serifs and Autonium does not.

At the size it is designed, adding one brick to make a serif does not make it different. I also have a serif version that does the same thing. At the end of the day, it looks like the same family.

As I have said before ... using a finite set of bricks means that there will often be similarities between designs that have arisen completely independently.

There are significant differences here in most characters - especially noticeable in the diagonals of the K, R and X.

I think it is time to accept demonics honest assurance that this is not a copy.

I agree with your first paragraph. I'm not saying it's deliberate. It could be subconscious, but for lesser similarities fontstructs have been retracted. The dilemma I have is NCD Autonium is signed to a font house. They may not appreciate demonics design, and could pursue legal matters for infringement.

I understand that you're trying to make money, and I get how you might see this as a copyright infringement. But I'm certain that if you spent five minutes on MyFonts or Dafont, you'd find so many identical faces.

What you and I have done is not revolutionary. With Autonium and Yes, we have not created anything really new. It's been done.

So are you asking me to delete dm Yes?

@djnippa: Ah yes, NCD Autonium is signed to a font house ... and you stated that you would therefore remove this font from those that you sell here through PAYPAL. Is the font house in question aware that you have failed to do so? Have they initiated any legal proceedings?

could pursue legal matters for infringement There are so many differences between the two designs that I doubt whether any self-respecting font house would even bother to take notice. demonics is not trying to sell his design, so it is hardly in competition with yours is it?

You may not have intended it as such, but veiled threats of legal action are starting to sound a wee bit like bullying.

When I first joined FontStruct you were going through a trying time regarding one of your fonts that had a very close resemblance to another designers' professional work. As I recall, the majority of people here (myself included) tried to stick up for you and offer you support. Perhaps it is time to take a more benevolent stance over this issue ... especially as it is Christmas.

@djnippa… let's not get ahead of ourselves. Yes, NCD Autonium is a very nice font… which owes much to Milton Glaser and Wim Crouwel… neither of whom I suppose are threatening legal action against you. Demonics' creation may be similar, but certainly stands on it's own as a separate and unique font. You also owe much to Fontstruct… a COMMUNITY of people working within the same modular, geometric constraints. As others have noted, there is bound to be some overlap. In short… CHILL dude!
