Hmm, if someone got laid for making such a cool font, they would be font...err, rhymes with struct! ;-)
Brilliant! 10/10
I think I have worked out what tune the sound waves represent ... 'Happy God Save The Weasel' ;)
Great! Similar to cablecomputer's High Volume.
@will.i.om // So naughty! ;-)
Thank you for the comments! Do any of you have any suggestions for improvement? This is my first time on Fontstruct so your opinion would help.
Wow, I actually read the description this time and it kinda blew my mind. Very cool idea.
Notes:
· R and Z could be cleaned up. Both of their “timelines” are broken.
· I would decrease the letter spacing or increase the word spacing. Fat face like this usually look best with tight letter spacing.
· G is good! J could use more development, maybe make it more narrow or curved like S.
· Do you want this to be monospace? If so, I would go ahead and give ‘I’ crossbars and a square profile and make all the right side bearings the same.
· If not, I would consider slightly more proportional letter widths. M and W look overly compressed. Try making the bowl of P a bit bigger vertically and similarly make the F a little less high-waisted (it shouldn’t mimic the E exactly, and so you can give it fatter crossbars).
· For some reason, I think it would be cool to have just the waveforms in the lowercase – but in black instead of negative. This could allow for some multi-tone effects.
Cheers!
That last note should read: “...but in positive instead of knocked-out...”
Finally, there’s got to be a clever name to capture the idea behind this. All I can think of right now is cheese like “Rave Form” or “Neue Wave”. “White Noise” perhaps?
Thanks will.i.ૐ for all those comments it really helped (especially with the spacing). I recently re-wrote the description to clearly show my thought process for the design and what the negative space represents. I like the idea of the lower case in the waveforms and will do it within the next day or two. With regards to the name I agree it needs something more personal than a pun.
Cool font! I like the idea of making sound bars around there.
Great job, Ross! The inverse glyphs are lookin’ sharp. Good luck with your sample book!
Damn, spooky sample! ;)
The shadow effect made possible by combining the upper and lowercase is very satisfying. I’m impressed!
Congratulations! FontStruct Staff have deemed your FontStruction worthy of special mention. “White Noise” is now a Top Pick.
well i also liked the font but you should improve the more latin fonts and the letters æ ø å (especially) you should also add the numbers cus or else it looks kinda retarded but everything else after the update is awesome.
Suddenly I realize that we're on a very near path of thinking about waves in sound speaking. Look at my Font VEGESIGNES. Here:http://openfontlibrary.org/en/font/vegesignes
I built them on the basis of linear, no circles, no cuttings, no detached accents.
cant wait to use this
