"All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up." - Pablo Picasso Inspired by the eagerness of children. I wanted to create a playful typeface which at the same time pushed Fontstruct to it's limits. This certainly succeeded in the second. I spent lots of time playing with wax crayons. Who says an artist has to grow up? Just heads up, this font is a bit of a system killer due to the size and complexity of the glyphs so be patient and gentle when using it. Ah UWE is back, hurray!

These are very big and complex glyphs. FontStruct does have its limits – you may start having saving problems at some point, depending on how big your character set becomes, and you also might have problems downloading - just a heads up. I would make a clone after, say, every five letters – as a backup. If your font does get too big for the system you can split it into two e.g. one for upper-case, one for lower.

Looks spectacular at the moment, great technique. I'd be worried about crashing the system though. As it soooo BIG. Keep saving every step of the way, and make back up copies, otherwise you could lose it all.

Thanks for the tips guys, much appreciated. I was shown yesterday how to create composite bricks, I could probably have had smaller glyphs if I had used that technique but i would have to start again, maybe i could for the lower case

Hi there, really cool font. I'm new and I was wondering how you created this font. Did you do that all with this site or there's a way to import illustrator files?

@DesigningOnTea: I might just peek under the hood of a clone to see this ultra hi-res approach is action. Clearly you went sub-pixel here, which is admirable and astounding. The texture is so convincing I imagine you must have used some transparent window overlay strategy to capture it from the threshold of a scanned source. @meek, this reminds me: Template layers would be a wonderful official “expert” feature to use in conjunction with unlimited guidelines!

I also wanted to share this with y’all, a viral piece that just cried out for crayons. I could have varied the size of the glyphs for an even more convincing result (as in DOT’s beautiful examples.)
