Re-fontstructed with composite bricks, finally an uppercase that works with this strange mash-up of a design. Latin-A is a mess of alternates and swashy ideas (for now). I may update them with proper diacritics, a suite of swash caps, and the rest of the characters from the original. Numerals need revising to fit the cap height. Enjoy this beta!

Wow! That one is just brilliant! I love the thin lines in the uppercase and the harmony between corners and curves etc. Looks like a futuristic aztecs font! Great work!

what a beauty. the uc is inspired. a wonderful mash-up of several types. who could ever conceive, let alone execute such a marvel? we know now.
Comment by funk_king 23rd august 2010
Wow!

Personally, I don't like the arrow in the capital M, but it is a 10 nevertheless.

This one is really remarkable!

@laynecom: You’re right, the M is a hard one to crack on this fontstruction. I have included an alternate for your consideration. Glad you enjoyed it all the same!

@tylo: Interesting, the Mesoamerican angle hadn’t occured to me at all. The new M definitely agrees with you! Thanks for the cool feedback.

@funk_king: And thank you for the high praise :) I always thought the original lc had a bit of a blackletter flavor, so I wanted to play that part up in the uc. The unical aspects are still perhaps the most gimmicky (but made for an easy E once I made the B). I think the sans hybridizing is what saves it. These approaches simply weren’t possible for me until the introduction of fs 2.0 and composite bricks. The stencil approach ... an extention of the lc and one approach to managing this small grid perhaps, and still a bit crazy. :)

I'm stunned. This is immense. It's elegance and uniqueness is unsurpassed. The upper case takes the biscuit. I love the little inner suggestive lines. One of the coolest stencils on the planet.

Maybe I'd possibly curve the right side of the D....maybe. :-)
Comment by djnippa 23rd august 2010
On usage, L needs work. It doesn't read right at all.
Here are a few variations (except the first one, that's your original design). I also think you can do a better V, and maybe move the horizontal bar on A, a bit lower.
Comment by djnippa 23rd august 2010
The current L would make a better 5.
Comment by djnippa 23rd august 2010
It just oozes brilliance from each glyph. Mark of genius to come up with the initial idea and mark of true craftsmanship to see it through it all. The height of originality can be seen in the @. Can we see a screenshot blowup of one of the characters to see how it was done?

PS: Definitely enjoying the beta. Thanks.

PURE DELIGHT. It's the best stencil font I've ever seen. Gorgeous job. I wish i could rate it 11 stars.

Defo the first 'L'. It rocks.
I ended up doing a variation of this font. Hope you don't mind.

This font is so insanely cool, I'm embarrassed to have my High Voltage in the Featured box right now...
Can any of the admins replace it with this one please?:)

Seriously, there is so much character and style in here, and such a uniqueness... And all of this on such a small and smartly used grid. Even I would award an 11 if there was one, and I hardly ever give the full 10. ;)
The really cool thing I guess (and admittedly the point that makes me jealous:P) is that this isn't a font that builds itself from a set of implicit rules; every single character is a creation of its own, not obvious at all, but the way you did them still perfectly fitting into the "big picture". Typography is - in my perception - often only a little about creativity: you just need the initial spark, and the rest of it is handcraft. This is here is creativity from A to Z. And beyond, of course. ;)

@dj - i really liked your remix. it seems that you have unshared it. i can understand your feelings. i thought in a way some previous issues with authorize were hinted at. it's unfortunate that we have to carry this baggage with us and hopefully it doesn't deter the creative process.

when we get the 'display only' button at least we can others to view our work although we will still control its distribution. and people will be able to use the full screen to sample and set the type - so the font could still be used - for good or bad. so maybe one day, we will see the beauty named Adaptorical again.

definitely different from the original here, but what was lost in swishyness is gained with a more extensive and consistent application of that lovely stem created by will.i.ૐ. both have a very calligraphic feel - yours more stylized and 'regimented' with the stem and will.i.ૐ's more natural feeling. both amazing work, esp. for modular fonts.

looking at the outline screen shot, i am amazed by the construction. it looks like p2p's RM Mondrianish and would probably be a very interesting font itself.
Comment by funk_king 26th august 2010
THIS is what FS is all about... A truly fresh and inspiring work born within the quirky restraints of the modular system, but blossoming out of it with honesty and integrity. This is modern, idiosyncratic, full of character, and at the same time, exquisitely crafted. Forgive all the hyperbole, but I agree with previous posts... 10 stars is an inadequate rating.

Simply brilliant. (Do you think if I work tooo much I can do one like this sometime in the distant future? To me it seems far away, big FSmaster).

this is without doubt a superfontstruction. bam!
Comment by kix 1st september 2010
Superb in every way. Inventive, unique, legible, TEENSY. I think the last is the most impressive attribute given all the others. An instant Fontstruct classic.
Comment by intaglio 25th september 2010
maybe it's me, but it reminds me of Hebrew writing.

Woow! Amazing!

I cannot believe this is only 2 fonts above mine in page 8 of top picks!

It's so much better than Pixels Redefined!

Also, it's above kix's Vuvuzela.

It is such a good time to update old projects with the new advanced features of Fontstruct. Allegorica is an exquisite piece of work; it deserves every bit of attention. 10/10

I had not seen this before. Very striking, very unusual. Those delicate hairlines are pure genius and the design overall like magic.
