  • This is my passion project. In Fontstruct, you either have:

-Beautiful font but with few glyphs

-Fonts with thousands of glyphs but little effort* [Looking at you, Pixel Sans/Password Fonts ;)]

And then of course the middle ground. It is still possible to make a semi-good-looking font with 1000-2000 chars (I do it a lot). The only exceptions are “Block Kie Uni”, with 11572 chars and “GS Unicode” with 33732 chars across 5 fonts (holy guacamole!) I aim to create a smooth Unicode font, and I went with Helvetica look for neutrality and in honor of “Block Kie Uni”. I made it by typing the text in word and eyeballing the correct measurements. I like the end result. Also I won't kern :)

Woah that is very realistic! It lookes the same as helvetica on my computer! But you say unicode, so I'm expecting more glyphs soon.

Comment by R.Mutt Fri, 7th august

Wow! That is very good! I'm sure that this exactly resembles Helvetica.

I wanna make a pan-Unicode serif font.

how many scripts do you aim at doing?

Comment by Luca P. B. (lvqille backupukcab elliqvl) Wed, 19th august

@lvqille, I plan on adding all unicode blocks one by one. I generally see if they work in another font before I add them here. Mainly: Latin, Cyrillic, Greek, Devanagari, Arabic and Cherokee.

Expect the next few blocks to take a while, I'm not keen to finish these diacritics and special characters… 🫩

Changed the letters “a” and “s” and their diacritics, to look more like Helvetica: (before: left, after: right)

nice font, can you let me clone? I want to see how the font was made, and improve it for a project.
