Description:
The reference to running was suggested by the look of k and K. Any similarity to modern Fraktur was entirely unintentional.

This works pretty well! An informal and unique modern blackletter...but come now, there’s little coincidence with type design :-)

The only character I would revisit (unless you are to reconsider the mono-width of certain capitals) is the z. Its lack of hexagonal cues makes it stick out unpleasantly. Time to investigate some of those modern Frakturs? ;-)

This is cool fontcollector.

I would widen the space character a tad. And, maybe tighten the spacing on the right side of the t.

Very nice design. Consistent and well balanced. It deserves the highest rating. Just one little suggestion, if I may: I would make the "Ø" similar to the "0" (zero), using a forward slash diagonal. 10/10

Yeah, just like that on the Zs. Good Work!

@will.i..: Originally, I designed z and Z as they appear now, but I wasn't happy with them. Your suggestion, however, prompted me to return them to their former shapes. So thanks for that!

I've also reworked several glyphs, including -, +, =, and #. Although there's no new hexagonal flavor, the horizontal strokes now slope upward instead, like the crossbars of A, E, F, f, t, et cetera. I hope you approve!

As for the "coincidence" about Fraktur, I honestly didn't notice the resemblance until my font was almost finished. I have no background whatsoever in type design or graphic art. At any rate, I've removed "coincidental" from the description and replaced it with "unintentional."

I'm sorry my keyboard won't allow me to type your username properly.

Take care of that concussion!

@aphoria: Your advice to widen the space character a bit was most welcome. I've just done so.

I don't think the problem with t is its spacing on the right. When t is followed by left-serifed glyphs such as h, i, or u, the gap does seem excessive. So I decided to lower its crossbar slightly. It's not a perfect solution, but I believe it helps.

I appreciate your remarks!

@Frodo7: You already know how much I respect your opinion. So thanks for your suggestion to revise 0. Done!

@fontcollector Looking good.

You can copy-and-paste will.i.ૐ. :)

A good looking set ... it does trot along nicely :)

Great achievement, even if I'm not a fan of the I and T arrow shape. Love the &.

@will.i.ૐ: Don't know why I didn't think of copy and paste to address you properly. Credit goes to aphoria.

fontcollector
fontcollector Sun, 11th October, 2009

@igorrossi: I'm grateful for your mostly favorable remarks! On a few glyphs, my use of the hexagonal theme may be heavy-handed, but I will do almost anything to achieve consistency. ;-)

@Frodo7: I think I misunderstood your suggestion about Ø and zero. I'm going to fix them now, so thanks again!

Yes, now it's perfect.

I love to see how everyone is developing into a typographer as a result of being here. Your progress is awesome, as is this font. :)

I know it is irrational, but I somehow feel like proud papa when I see such good work as if it was I who created FontStruct. I can only imagine how proud Rob Meek must feel.

Thanks, fontcollector; thanks, Rob.

@fontcollector: Ah, of course – that’s what aphoria meant. Silly me, i thought the second part was somehow addressed in my direction.

But don’t sweat it. Folks have been kind enough to copy and paste my username (which is a reference to my old handle “williaum”) but if you want you can just call me will :)

@thalamic: You're making me blush!

Your feelings of pride aren't as irrational as you may believe. Any progress I'm showing ought to be attributed in large part to my observation of the brilliant fonts created by you, Frodo7, p2pnut, aphoria, will.i.ૐ, funk_king, and many other virtuoso designers.

If I may be literal, however, your remark does include one irrational component -- the paternalistic reference -- since I'm about 21 years older than you are!

Thanks for your generous words of praise.

@meek: Thanks so much for the Top Pick, Rob! As you can see, this font is almost two years old, so the belated recognition is even more gratifying. :)
