I do believe I woke up one night and had the idea to do the outline--fully formed. The hatch was just a solution to, uh, not wanting to fill in the outline with more solid blocks, which would have defeated the purpose of creating an outline.
Just Great... same on lower case...High vote for two :)
Wow! These letters are almost exactly what i had while i was sketching my ideas for INTERPRET. I made them up to the letter O on here, but didn't like the direction it was going. So I used a bigger grid...which lead to different problems... But I like how you worked out the kinks; good job.
Just came across this...quite fantastic! My only suggestion is to put the oulined numbers, etc. on the U/C and make shaded versions for the l/c
Loop (and Hatch) re-released.
When these fonts were first shared, oh, almost two years ago, each fontstruction contained the upper/lowercase letters on the uppercase and the corresponding hatching on the lowercase. It was cumbersome to type both in a single go. Then emepar7 suggested I separate letters on one and hatch on another. It took a loooong time to redo all that. Literally a few days later, FontStruct was upgraded and we got the ability to copy/paste between fontstructions. A real D-Oh! moment. The swapped versions have been sitting around since then. I came around these going through old fontstructions (and deleting uncompleted and/or crap fonts). Thought I'd re-share. Hope you like it.
PS @ Admins: Top Picks are always a grin-inducing bonus and I do appreciate them. fs Loop [Hatch] used to be the lowercase set of this font and may have deserved the TP status before. However, keeping in mind the sanctity of the Top Picks, fs Loop [Hatch] may not deserve this accolade anymore as it is now just an auxiliary font to fs Loop. You might want to un-TP it. I won't mind. :-)
Oh, how to get it to work: The two fonts have been carefully designed to have the exact same character widths, so one should lay on top of the other without any tweaking. Type text in fs Loop, copy it, select all, change font to fs Loop [Hatch], send it behind/below. Voila! Instant hatching. :-)
This wonder of the earlier days of FS (when it was still steam driven, no doubt) shows your mastery of design - whatever the technology. The sample is beautiful. I'm glad of the chance to add my 10 :)
Reminds me of my Payperklipz, but better. 10/10

We celebrate five years of FontStruct with an experimental new feature.
