You would never know, but Med Splode was originally a clone of “Med LSD”, which I created under my original williaum account. Med LSD was itself a cloned variant of a recreation of Buro Destruct’s Med Led. This was all back in 2008 (wow, almost five years ago)!

I wanted to take that classic design and use the fontstructor to explore different modules. Med LSD was exploring how certain modules create a sense of direction and movement and thus interesting optical effects can be achieved. I think Milvi is great because you are exploring that idea further with glyph construction that is uniquely your own. 10/10

Thanks for posting some interesting background information, Will. I would never have guessed that that would have included both yourself and Buro Destruct.

Like you, I was interested in exploring the suggestion of movement through the use of different bricks. Med Splode works with two, in Milvi I have applied the four directions of the newly released kite bricks and its glyph shapes are a natural consequence of that process.

Is the work produced under your original account still accessible? I would love to see an example of Med LSD.

So many great characters, and all with only one type of brick! An astonishing result. 10/10!

I deleted my williaum account back in 2008, so you won’t find the original. It’s easy enough to recreate, though, since Paul’s “turning it inside out” was a simple brick substitution – a clever one, at that. Here’s a new sample of Med LSD:

Congratulations! FontStruct Staff have deemed your FontStruction worthy of special mention. “Milvi” is now a Top Pick.

Thanks for all feedback

@will: Now I understand what he meant by 'turning it inside out'.
In Med Splode all elements seem to be moving away from the centre. Med LSD gives the impression of being inflated. It is as if each glyph is printed on a hot air balloon. I like the sample too! Any chance of this being made public again?

@meek: Thanks for the TP!
